Am I right about this OPK result?

Here are two pics of the OPK I got from the dollar store. I haven't used this kind before, but ran out of my older ones. I started testing yesterday at noon and 10PM, with both definitely negative. When I tested today at noon, this is what it looked like.

My old tests showed in 3 minutes, and pretty much any 2nd line was positive. This one can't be declared negative until 10 minutes, and the line took about 8 to get this dark. The package says a line that's lighter than the control line is negative. If it's equal or darker, that's positive. However, in their picture of what a positive test looks like, the line looks lighter to me.

I think it's probably positive, but if anyone wants to weigh in I could use some reassurance. There are two pics because I took them in different lights.

And for those of you who know Shettles for a boy, double check me on this too: If it's positive, my plan is to BD tomorrow morning before DD gets up (so probably around 6AM). We only do it once, and then again the next day. Am I right in that?

I would say its positive. So that would mean if it was positive for the first time this noon, that O is about 24 hours away. So yep, BD tomorrow AM is right on. Have you abstained for at least 4 days? Remember your position and O for you. If you were going to try the baking soda douche, you would do that before. Good luck!!
As far as BD again the next day, that is not in Shettles recommendations. He says only once right at O, and condoms for the next two days if you DTD or abstain again, just in case.
Have you been doing the baking soda drink lately?
Good luck again!

I took it as a positive, so we BDd early this morning. Things didn't go entirely as planned, since DH was suddenly struck down by stomach flu just before dinner yesterday (very bad -- we had guests). Then DD woke us up at 3:30AM because she had to go potty, and DH was still feeling icky and couldn't get back to sleep. So I got everything ready and we BDd shortly before 5AM. It was a weird night, and I didn't get to temp.

But here's what I did do:
Timed it as close to O as possible (I still had EWCM, but not nearly as much as before bed)
Abstained 5 days prior - condoms before that
Baking soda douche
Baking soda drinks and Robitussin since AF
Inserted egg whites before BD
Had the other O, once before and once after DH
DH drank half a Diet Coke (mostly because of the flu though)

Hopefully it worked, and those Y-Guys are getting the job done! Thanks!

Wow, sounds like a crazy night, but your attempt sounds great! Wow, lots of sway, I honestly never have heard of someone covering all of those basis before. If you get pregnant and this is not a boy, then you will have to know that there was nothing else you could have possibly done. Now come on and stick little guy.

On a side note, I am so jealous that your DD get up to use the restroom, she is like 18 months, right? My 4 year old still won't! How do you get it to work?

Well, it sounds like the sway was good. But, since I'm ttc a girl, I am a little concerned about the timing. It sounds like the
O + 12 method for ttc a girl where you BD 12 or more hours after O. The statistic I saw showed the best results at 16 hours after O. Also for this, they suggest the man obstain, but it's for at least 7 days.

Anyway, it seems like overall you did a lot to sway. So, GL and I hope you get BFP soon!

Thanks for responding!

It does seem like a lot, doesn't it? I tried almost everything I could to sway. The reason is that we used Shettles for our first pregnancy and still got our sweet DD. DH and I are both from girl-heavy families, with about a 6:1 ratio of girls to boys in the past couple generations. If we end up with an all-girl family it will be fine and I'll love them to bits; I just don't want to look back and wonder if I could have done something to help mix it up a bit.

Regarding the timing, I'm never totally confident about it. I don't know the O+12 method. Shettles says to get a boy, you BD as close to O as possible. My OPK suggested I'd be Oing around midday today (about 24 hours after + result), so early morning seemed like a good bet. Not being able to temp makes me nervous, and now my CM is mixed up with DH's contribution and actual eggwhite, so that's hard to read too. I just have to hope for the best!

As for the potty, I think DD is quite amazing. She's 21.5 months now. We started PT about 3 months ago, mostly because she insisted. It's like she just decided one day that she hates diapers. It still took months of accidents for it to click, and I'm planning to have the carpets cleaned as soon as I'm sure we're really over most of those. She mostly tells me now when she has to go, and I sit her on the potty about every two hours even if she doesn't. She still has occasional accidents, and she wears diapers for naps and bedtime even though she wakes up dry about half the time. I have to carry her portable potty seat everywhere, because she's too scared to sit on a toilet without it. But most of the places we go there are family and friends who have/had kids, and they understand. So it's not perfect, but I LOVE how much money we're saving on diapers!

My DS was potty trained in a weekend when he was two and half, since that weekend he seriously has had only 10 accidents total his whole life. But the night thing is still getting us for almost two years. He just can't wake up to use the restroom and is never dry in the morning. So the fact that she wakes up is just great, and should make you truly diaper free shortly. I've considered myself diaper free on the older one for the last almost two years, even though we use one a night.

Ok, I didn't understand the timing of the OPK at first. But, it sounds like you did it at a good time. I think you have a good chance of getting your boy. GL and baby dust!
