I new here and hoping to get to know everyone! Just a little background......I'm 28 and DH is 31 we have a DD that is 6 and a DS that is 3. I've been searching around for a good message board and all those I have visited have been very inactive until I came across this one so I joined!

I have had baby fever since my DS was about a year old and it's getting really bad! lol (especially since everyone around me has been having babies!) I have been off BC since Sept 08 and DH and I have officially decided to start TTC. We initially had planned on starting in Jan but I just cant wait until then I want to start NOW! I am on CD #1 currently. So here is my question....I would really love to have another girl and had no idea there were so many things you can do to "sway." So if we start TTC this cycle is it too late to try any of the methods to sway for a girl??

Hi, and welcome to the board. I am the mom to two gorgeous boys that we used Dr. Shettles technique to conceive. We are planning on trying for our third and final child this summer.
As far as is it too late... well, in my opinion, yep it is, sorry. It depends on just what you want to do to sway but I'll give you a little timeline on some of the sway techniques. Almost everyone here is using the Shettles timing in their attempts. That means for a girl, you use a cutoff of about 2 to 3 days PRIOR to ovulation to end intercourse. How do you know when to stop? You chart your cycle for several months beforehand to know when you ovulate and make sure you stop DTD at least 2 days before it occurs. A lot of the ladies on here trying for girls are also taking supplements and some are even trying to stay the girl diet, along with using the cutoff. You need to be taking the supplements for at least 6 weeks to have them in your system.
Someone on here (I can't remember who right now) is going to try 0+12 for her attempt, but this theory also means you need to have your timing down on when you ovulate, so therefore, charting is necessary too. I believe she is also using the supplements, so again you need to be on those for awhile.
There is so much to learn out there, and I suggest you read up and decide if you want to try swaying, it can be a lot of work. For both of my boys, I charted for 4 months before we made our first attempt, and then we followed all of the instructions exactly, which is not always easy to do. It certainly isn't as romantic and you can't get caught up in the moment, its more like getting down to business. I know that for our two newest "success" stories, Jodi charted for six months to make sure her timing was right. Jessikah tested her pH and kept track of her cylces for several months as well. So I think you just have to decide how serious you are about trying for a certain sex to know if the work before ttc is worth it to you or not.
Good luck, and I hope you stick around the board. Please, just ask away if you have any questions about anything I just overloaded you with :)

Welcome, you just got some great information about swaying!

This month will be our first attempt if I do not chicken out and the timing all works out. I am on supplements, checking ph and will attempt to have an O+12 attempt.

Good Luck to you!!

Hi, And welcome to the board, these are a great bunch of ladies around here. I started swaying last year and still no bfp. When I started swaying I did everything by the book, supplements, charting, timing, position, etc.. Well every month it seemed I forgot to do one thing or another to sway. I agree you really need to be committed, but it is okay too if you just do a few things if you are comfortable with getting what ever. It kind of depends on how strong you want the baby of that sex! I started really wanting a boy, now I just want to see a bfp! I am still kind of swaying, timing, position, a little bit of diet. Sometimes I think my only sway is reading about swaying, LOL! Maybe my body will sway just because I read about it! Last month I did opks. I have had to take a few months off now and then just to get my sanity back! LOL I go to the fertility doc in January, so depending on what he says I will be starting some serious sway again. I am starting my supplements this month again so they are in my system. I am hoping the doc has great news for us and I can concieve by March of next year!

Good Luck for a good sway and some pink at the end!
