This is really comforting to hear! My DH knows I want to be a SAHM but we just can't afford it right now. My DH manages a finely tuned spreadsheet with our expenses so we know exactly where our money is going, but we still don't have a lot left over with just his salary. I'm very thrify to begin with and am always looking for ways to cut back but my DH wants all the nice things, like a nice cell phone and cable tv, whereas I could do without both. He didn't grow up with money so I think now that he actually has money, he wants to be able to live comfortably.
I'm currently working FT for the first time since my DD was born and it is exhausting! I told DH no way am I doing it with two LOs. I'm willing to compromise and work PT if need be.
It would be neat to start a thread with money-saving tips from SAHMs! I belong to two different mom groups and am just puzzled by how some of these SAHMs are able to put their kids in (paid) classes, get Starbucks, etc. while living on one salary. Either their husbands are all making a ton of dough (which I don't think is the case for all) or they're in a lot of debt?
I think a great many women are unrealistic about some expectations of being a SAHM - not that you are at all! I hear so many of my acquaintances complaining about money while they tap on iPhones with manicured nails with a cup of Starbucks at ballet class. It's dumb.
It's an internet based television service.
I wish we could afford for me to stay at home when #2 comes but it just won't work. We are paying off our credit card debt which will help a lot but my DH has over 42,000 in student loans which is the reason I won't ever be able to stay at home unless he gets a good raise.

We probably won't ever be able to afford for me to be a SAHM.
