Look at the link my DF sent me!

http://www.childdrowningprevention.com/index.html

I'm really going to research if there's something like this near home. And if there is not, a book or video and teach the children myself!!!!!

(isn't he the cutest for thinking about this kind of stuff??)

I've seen that before, it's really interesting and probably very useful.

The YMCA, at least in Massachusetts, has swim classes starting at age 6 months. They're not specifically "drowning prevention" focused. But, I started at 9 months and was certainly a competent swimmer by my second summer (18 months), though my parents obviously still stayed with me.

Swim classes are one o he big things I've been looking forward to about having a baby. Planning to start next January!

That is pretty neat! Although back when I was that age, we called it "swimming lessons" :P I could swim by 22 months. But I know some parents are swimmers themselves and maybe wouldn't think of teaching their kids so it's a great idea for sure.

Rachael, I LOVE the bouquet you had at your wedding!!! I'm having a fall wedding myself a friend of my mom is doing the flowers, if you have a close up of your flowers it would be wonderful, so she can see it and take some ideas. Thanks!!

Hey there! Thanks, my florist was awesome. She made everything so much more beautiful than I had envisioned. I believe there is a closeup on my photographer's blog. Her website is www.castellphotography.com and just click on blog. I think the pictures are in the October section. There are also a ton of pictures on the professional site, www.pictage.com/549183. They are copyrighted so I can't post them here, only refer you to them.

Hope that helps!

Well since I am a swim instructor, my summer job, my children will certainly be in the pool as early as I can get them into it. It is one of the most vital things a child needs to know and will benefit them their entire lives. It is horrifying to some of the older children I teach. They are terrified of going under the water even in the shallow end at 9 or 10 yrs old. I can't wait to have my kids in the pool, or gym for that matter.

This is the coolest thing ever!!! I forwarded it on to a few people that I know that have infants. We have a pool - wish I could teach my dog to do something like that..But we are filling it in, but it's nice if we go to the lake or someone's house.

Thanks for sharing!

And in terms of the swimming--yeah, we will definitely be doing this, too!
