When you give birth, are you planning on having an epidural, or will wait and see how you feel at that time?

I really want to give birth med free like my mom did.
I came close to getting a spinal block with my last, but when my midwife said that I could either wait 15 minutes for the meds and then another 10-15 for it to kick in or start pushing, I went with the pushing since I had him out in less than 5 minutes. I really could have used the block afterwards though, it was so painful when they would press on my uterus to help it shrink back down. Not sure why that birth hurt so much worse afterwards, maybe because I had no meds at all?

Anyway, given what happened when I got my epidural, if I can go without it, I will...the epidural was the most painful experience of my labor and the only time I screamed. I didnt have any side effects but the administration of it was a complete nightmare. Never again if I can help it.
