Would you name your child after a loved one? I definitely want to use my grandmother's name as a middle name for my first born daughter!

If we have a boy we are definitely going with Beau as the first name (my maternal grandfather).

Our little boy will have Owen as his middle name. This is my Dad's, brother's, and grandfather's middle name. My Dad goes by his middle name. My future MIL goes by Ginger a name I don't like much, but I have thought of using her real first name. I also might just use Ginger. Grace Ginger would be our girls name if that was what we go with. I have also thought of using Katherine as a middle name. This is my middle name, and Eric's family name, as well as his sister's middle name, and she has a family name.

DS1 is named after his late biological grandfather and his bio-dad.
DS2's middle name is after my late brother, his first name we picked because we liked the meaning.

We have names picked out for #3 already for a boy or girl after my late-stepdad and DH's grandmother.

Our son has two middle names...DH's grandfather's first name and my DH's first name.

I would only really use family names for middle names, unless the person is passed on. The only family name I would consider for a first name is Emma, my great-grandmother. She was a key figure in my life. Other than that, I would rather my child have his own name and honor family with the middle name option.

The verdict is out on this with me and DH. If we have a boy, I think the perfect middle name would be Patrick, because it's my brother's middle name, and my grandmother and his mom's name are both Patricia. But he isn't a fan of Patrick.

Other than that, I don't have another family member's name that I'm really fond of. I like the ideal of borrowing a name from elsewhere in the family, but only if I liked the name itself. I'll have to think of others though - I don't know the middle names of all my grandparents, for example.
