Hey all! I hope you had a really fun Thanksgiving!

So my DH and I are waiting for about a year to TTC. But this month I went off the pill, because we just got married and our new insurance hadn't kicked in yet. So we just decided we would wait until pills cost $10 instead of $50. We've been using condoms.

That's not horrible! I can be the same way. We use the handy dandy ever trusty (ha ha) pull-out method. There was one time right after my period (the day after it stopped, I think) that DH and I were in the middle of "getting it on" and I said "you know, you could finish inside if you wanted to" (well, I used more....uh....sexy terms) and I guess that turned him on so much that I said that that he orgasmed right then and there without pulling out. So in the back of my mind - I go over the scenerio that if the time came that I wanted to try to get pregnant, I could just utter those words again to him. Then I think about how cruel that would be of me to try to get pregnant when DH isn't quite ready. But I have thought about it...

Well I'm on cycle 12 now, so I can definitely tell you that PGcy doesn't just happen--idk if that makes you feel better or worse! LOL! But I think if it's meant to be, it will be, and if not, it won't.

I think your feelings are completely normal and I agree with the PP that as long as there is trust there and you and DH would both agree that a PGcy now was an accident, then let things happen as they may!

I am in grad school myself, just about to finish my first semester, and DH is also in grad school. There have been days when I'm tired of being on BC (decreased libido) and waiting to TTC (DH and I will both be over 30 by the time we start TTC) but then I remind myself that I signed up for my grad program for a reason and if I was to have a baby before graduation, it would totally mess up my program. I'm in a cohort with 26 other students and we have to take the same classes together and student teach our last semester. I haven't inquired as to what would happen if I couldn't student teach due to a baby but I figure it's just easier to wait a little longer then I won't have to worry about putting myself in that situation.

As for the cost of BC, my obgyn actually referred me to Wal-Mart because they fill BCP for $9 for a 1-month supply (or at least the one in my town does). I switched jobs last year and my new company doesn't cover BCP so I was going to have to pay an outrageous amount. DH and I aren't disciplined enough to go a year without BCP and relying solely on condoms (neither of us like it) so I was relieved to find out WM has a discount. :-)

Thanks so much everyone for your input! We were talking last night and we both are ready for kids but we just want to get some things lined up first. It's good to know that everyone feels the same way pretty much!

Christine, I am starting my teaching program in Feb! What a small world! Are you doing single sub or multiple sub? I'm doing multiple sub; I want to teach fifth grade! Yay! The good thing is that if I have a little one now, my program is only from 4-10pm on Tuesday and Thursday and DH could take care of little

Hello...Becky, is it?

Hmm...I'm not sure what you mean by single/multiple sub? Could you explain?

I'm in a graduate Elem Ed program that will get me my Masters and teaching cert in 15 months. We only meet on Saturdays so it works out really well with my work schedule. If DH wasn't in grad school at the same time, then we could start TTC earlier but with both of us in school and working FT, it would just be too much. I only have 2 more

Hey Christine!

In California, where we live, they don't call it elementary or secondary for the programs, they call it single/multiple subject...single for high school teachers and multiple for elementary school teachers.

Thanks for the clarification! Then yes, I would be doing multi-subject then. :-)

You'll have to let me know how you like your program once you get started in Feb! I really wanted something on the weekends because I work downtown but live in the suburbs and didn't want to be rushing from work to class. Also, my employer doesn't know I'm going back to school so if I had to leave work early for class, I'd have to start making up excuses or tell them sooner or later. I plan on telling them next summer, before I start student teaching. I'm hoping they'll let me
