Supplements before TTC?

Hi all, I'm wondering if you've found good resources for what supplements are best to take for the last few months before you start TTC? I have found a few things on what the woman needs, but not much on what the man needs. Obviously a good multivitamin to start with. There's a supplement called Fertilityblend for men that has some amino acids, something derived from Dong Quai, folic acid & zinc. Any other info that you've found?

As for what the woman needs, have you found anything beyond

Hi Noel,

I am taking a multivitamin, 5 mg of Folic Acid (I know it is a lot, but that's what my doc recommended), and an Omega 3 supplement designed for the prenatal time. I also take iron, but that's something I've needed to supplement for many years.

DH is not taking anything now, but he'll start taking a multivitamin about 3 months prior to our TTC start time.

Omega 3 was the one thing that kept coming up in my research as a nutritional supplement that's now recommended in the prenatal period and my doc basically said that it couldn't hurt. Overall, I was looking at vitamins/supplements to support a healthy pregnancy rather than those specifically meant to boost fertility.

I am interested to see what everyone else is taking...

I've been taking prenatal vitamins for almost 2 years now (since April 07 when I found out I was pg with DS) because it's recommended to keep taking them while nursing. DS is almost 13mo old and still nursing 1-2 times a day, so I've just kept on going with the prenatal vits.....they make my hair and nails really healthy, too! I also take a folic acid supplement and an omega-3 supplement, but those aren't necessarily related to future TTC plans....the Omega-3's are for my cholesterol, and the folic acid is for heart health. Lastly, 2-3 times a week I take a supplement of live active cultures (what you find in yogurt) to help keep my digestive system regular.

When we start TTC I won't be adding or subtracting anything from my current regimen.
