What "tangible" things (if any) are you waiting for before TTC?

For me to finish my PhD! I would never go back to school and finish if I had a baby.

Another thing that may or may not be a reason in the end is waiting until we move after we're done here. That will be Feb. 2010, but we're not sure if we're going to wait for that (Kyle keeps going back and forth on it though).

Thanks to Tara from Signature Showcase for my wonderful siggie!

We're waiting to get married. :-)

I'm done w/ school. DF is almost done, and his new career path is panning out very nicely for him. I'm established in my career (by the time we TTC I'll be working there 10+ years), and we're on tracking for getting a house right after we get married.

So yup, getting married... that's it.

We are going to start looking to buy our 1st house in Jan. Originally we wanted to wait until after the house but we should be fine even if I get pg in January.

Waiting to have the baby arrive after DH gets his undergrad. We've got a pretty nice chunk in savings, and we don't plan on buying a house so for the most part our bills and stuff should be manageable. Only thing I'm unsure of is if DH starts working right away instead of going to grad school (which of course would be best if we want a baby right away), I don't know what his student loan payments will be like- mine is not so bad right now. Also don't know if we want to wait before or after we move out of state to.... wherever we'll be moving.

We were waiting on . . .

Me to get a job with good benefits so that we had insurance and atleast some sort of maternaty leave, which we now have. Though part of me just wants to jump in the ring now we are waiting until I have been in the position for around a year before getting pregnant, we will probably start trying a few months prior to my 1 year anniversary, however that puts

What are we waiting for? Is all of the above a valid answer? lol

DEBT - Right now, one of the major things is getting our debt paid off. We have about 13K in debt and want to get it paid off in the next year. With debt gone, we will be able to save a lot more money.

JOBS - We both need to get into better career fields. My husband is currently a truck driver and gone for two weeks at a time. I see him 4 days out of the month. It is a great paying job, but it is really crappy having him away all the time. Myself, I am stuck living with my dad because I take care of my grandma who has Alzheimer's and broke her hip about two months ago. I have pretty much been taking care of her for the past three years, so getting a real job that actually pays would be great.

SCHOOL - I am going to be attending school in Fall 09 to get an associates degree in Radiology and want to get a good career started so that my husband can quit his job as a trucker and go to school for Computer Programming. Once he is in school, I am going to go to school part time for something else (haven't decided what yet), so we should be done with school in about 6 years.

LIVING SITUATION - As I already said, I live with my dad because I take care of my grandma. This is not a good place to raise a child. So after we are done with school, we are going to be buying a house in either Maine, Massachusetts, or Connecticut.

TRANSPORTATION - We need a new car. Seriously, the brakes are almost shot, the shocks don't work any more, the passenger side door only opens from the inside, the front windows don't roll down, the a/c doesn't work, and many, many other things. We want to restore the car, but also buy one that would allow us to transport many kids, instead of just one or two.

PHYSICAL - I am trying to get to a healthy weight and change my eating habit so that I am a better vessel for my unborn child/children. I don't want to weigh as much as I do and risk diabetes or any of the other complications that can come with being overweight and pregnant.

So, I think that is all of our things we are waiting on. From the looks of it, we won't be having kids for what feels like 20 years. But, not all of these things have to be perfect. We just want to get in a better position to have kids. If we haven't achieved some of these things, its alright. :)
