Hey Joy!
Jlynn, Momma to Asher and Ada
What's the best thing about living in California? The worst?
BEST: Living close to San Francisco and Lake Tahoe.....
Worst: Traffic and housing costs
Do you already have any names picked out for your future baby?
We have been discussing names for a while....I think when we get preggers we will spend most of the time figuring names out!
Boy names: Andrew, Phillip, Carter
Girl Names: Anna, Ella, Taylor
If you could go back in time and live in any era/time period, which would it be?
interesting question, I often think that I would have loved to been by my grandmother's side as she built bombs for WWII. She was a real "Rosie the Riveter!"
Where is your favorite place to shop for you? DH? home?
ME: I love Ross, Marshalls, Norstrom RACK....but I go on tuesdays, that is when they get thier new deliveries and I can find the best brands at REALLY CHEAP PRICES!
DH: Old navy (he works with college students so he has to look hip)
Home: IKEA, you can't be the prices and everything you need is under one roof
Is your "real life" similar to your plan as you were growing up? If not, how is it different?
My career is a little different, I thought I would be a nurse or a physical therapist, but I ended up being a Health Educator. During college I had a short internship at a hospital, once I learned I couldn't stand being around sick people all day, I decided to change my major. No I help prevent people from getting sick!!
What is your dream job?
I would love to be a WAHM, writing books, colums, articles that empower women.
Do you travel to wineries often?
My uncle manages Joseph Phelps Vineyards in Napa, so I guess you can say it runs in my viens. I like wine tasting because it is relaxing and you always learn something new!
What is your favorite wine?
Pinot
Please describe your wedding dress.
I wore an A-line dress, white satin with a 4 inch border of beading at the bottom, the empire waist and the straps had the same matching beading. The front was a simple scoop neck with 1-inch beaded straps and the back was low cut with the beaded straps breaking into four dramatic straps that criss-crossed my back. The train was about 4 feet long. I felt like a princess!
What is your favorite memory of your wedding day?
My father is a preacher, so he officiated the wedding, so that was super special.
I think my favorite memory was reciting our vows to each other, we wrote our own vows and had practiced saying them before the wedding, but that moment and my DH's pure emotions will forever be in my memory.
your wedding dress sounds absolutely beautiful!!!!
Jlynn, Momma to Asher and Ada
your wedding dress sounds absolutely beautiful!!!! And how wonderful for you to be married by your father! that had to be very touching. Did he walk you down the aisle as well?
Yes, I was adamant that he walk me down the aisle, so we had a good friend who is a minister stand with DH at the altar and do the opening prayer and "who gives this bride" part.
Pinot....heehee.e Have you seen Sideways? Pinot is Miles' favorite wine, and I loved his description of why it was his favorite :D (we love wine too) :D
I have seen Sideways, and I totally know people just like Miles!!! You should come to my family's holiday celebrations, my cousins wrap wine bottles in cloth napkins and have the whole family taste them and guess what is what....at the end of the night we unviel the wines and see who got the most right.....
How did DH propose to you?
I called my DH on a random Tuesday in April 2000. I wanted to go to my favorite resturant (at the time) Paesano's, a little italian resturant in downtown Sacramento. (Kyle was planning on proposing on Friday and then taking me to Paesano's but since I suggested the resturant on tuesday he sped up his plans.) He agree to go and asked if I would pick him up (he claimed his car was low on gas). So I got dressed and drove to his place.
When I opened the door, our song "Crush" by the Dave Matthews Band, was playing and there was a path for me to follow. The path was made of a wide variety of momentos from our dating relationship, ticket stubs, pictures, books, movies, love notes, all kinds of things that he had kept since our first date. I followed the path, trying not to cry, and at end of the path in the very back of his house I found Kyle, on bended knee, holding an engagement ring. He asked me to marry him and for the first time in our relationship I was speechless, so I just nodded and cried.
That night we celebrated at Paesano's and then called all of our family and friends. It was a very memorable evening.
It was such a great proposal, his best friend did the same thing when he proposed to his now wife!!
Joy,
Your engagement sounds sooooo romantic! My bro's name is Kyle. :-)
