ACK, I have a job interview tomorrow

I am very excited, but don't want to get my hopes up! There are good and not-so-good things about this opportunity, but I am least going to go to the interview and see how it goes.

Potential Pros:

It is 15 minutes from my house - this would be a huge improvement over my 1.5 hour commute (EACH WAY) to my current job. It would also be a mile from DH's job, so we could have lunch together occasionally, which I would love!!! I would be super-busy and would be learning new stuff all the time, this would be nice after spending over a year in a mind-numbing job like I'm in now. There are opportunities to telecommute at least part-time in the future. And, my potential boss has two small children so she would probably be a little more understanding than most of "child issues". The money could be VERY good (or not so good, see below).

Potential Cons:

The position I'm in now is VERY stable and secure (but boring as Hell) with great benefits that we have the entire family on right now. Although the benefits at the new job look pretty good, I wouldn't be eligible for them for over two months (can you do COBRA if you leave a job?) The position is a salary + commission job, there are a lot more risks with this than my current salaried job. (However, there is the potential to make a lot more money than I am making now.) The job is in the mortgage banking industry, which is still strong now, but won't always be that way given that the real estate market tends to lag and we are in a rough economy now.

Anyway, I am going to go in for the interview, it's tomorrow night after work! Please keep your fingers and toes crossed that it's really a good opportunity and that I do well.

TIA,

JenP

Good luck, good luck, good luck!!!

Yes, you can pay COBRA if you leave a job--I quit my last job and kept the insurance through COBRA (which I made my current boss pay until the new insurance kicked in).

Good luck! The new job sounds pretty perfect. Especially the possibility to telecommute or go part time if needed. I'd love that! I'll have my fingers crossed for ya!

Good luck! That sounds great! Yep, you can do COBRA. When DH switched jobs (in the middle of my pregnancy) I just called our insurance company and got the details from them...they can tell you pretty much everything you need to know. Good luck at the interview! Let us know how it goes!

Good Luck! All will work out for the best, I'm sure everyone always says that, but that's all the advice I'm being given right now, so unfortunately, it's imbedded in my brain :-D I do believe you can be on COBRA if you leave a job. In fact, a friend suggested that to me last night with my "baby date" deliema. I'd look into it! Taking a risk, and making a change is always frightening...it's safe to stay where you're comfortablle. I've done a lot of thinking on this very issue, and know that sometimes chnage is for the best. Good luck with your decision, and let us know what happens!
