Happy Spring everyone! This weekend has been lovely where I live, we even went to the beach today. It was much too chilly to swim, but fun to walk around, and lots of people were out and about. I can't wait for more lovely spring weather! It makes me so happy.

It always feels like our monthly roll calls are so close together! But they're fun anyway. I love seeing everyone come out and post, plus we always get new people in these threads.

Sara: I'm not sure I understand what your DH said. I don't know the situation in Ontario, but in Quebec midwives are covered under the universal health care and the demand is so high that they wouldn't take someone without the card...

We plan on TTC whenever we're ready once we're there as I learned that the first midwife appointment is not before 12 weeks, and they don't ask for the card before that.

Really? I'm going to have to research this--I think he's just assuming they aren't covered because they aren't covered by many insurance companies here in the states....I am going to look into this-Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Name and SO's name: Amber and M
Kiddos/pets?: DD 19 months, Ruby (cat) 5 years
Where do you live?: Germany
What do you do for a living?: SAHM and work partime on the weekends in a hotel. Housekeeping...
Do you have a TTC date?: We talked about it aired our issues out, and things are still a little unclear. Off and on we don't use condoms. Maybe this month I can get him at the 'right time of the month' without. We will see. The no condom thing is a big step since DD was born it has always been with. But on CD 10 he wore one...grrrr. :)
What are your major reasons for waiting, and how is your progress going?: DH really only wants one but he knows I want more. I am settling for 2, and not 3 like I always wanted...maybe twins will come? Right now waiting is for spacing. At least 2 years apart but less than 4. So we will see.
Are you feeling the baby fever right now?: It is ok now. Friends were over the other day with their 7 month old son. Man was he soooo adorable and he laughs and laughs and laughs. Think my DD has a future bf. :)
What is your favorite outdoor activity?: Running, but haven't done that in awhile. Other than that walking and enjoying the weather while DD explores and chases cats.

I believe they're covered in every province! I've heard of "underground midwives": midwives that are not part of the new system and that you pay yourself. I believe midwives have only been covered in Quebec since 2000. Doulas are not covered though, but some can give you receipts in case your work insurance (dental, etc.) covers some.

Here's the Association of Ontario Midwives' website:

http://www.aom.on.ca/

Someone asked questions for me at a birth center in Quebec, and the midwives say I don't even need to have my sun card by the first appointment: all I'd need is a number in case I haven't received it yet. It gives me hope that I don't have to wait 90 days before we TTC!

Hi All...this is my first post :) More info below

Name and SO's name: You can call me Maddie (29) & DH (29)

Kiddos/pets?: Two cats

Where do you live?: Northeast, USA

What do you do for a living?: IT Geek

Do you have a TTC date?: July 2010... 3 more months, yikes...

What are your major reasons for waiting, and how is your progress going?: Have a trip out of the country around Christmas time and based on what I've read, I don't want to be more than 6 mo. pregnant. Previously, only waiting because I am just nervous by nature LOL. Kept my poor DH waiting for quite a few years now....

Are you feeling the baby fever right now?: Well, 'the switch' went off in my head around New Years, but very slowly getting excited. :) Before then, I was not interested at all. Many babies have been born (either friends or family) and it never fazed me in the least. I guess that sounds odd....

What is your favorite outdoor activity?: BBQs!

TTC #1 BFP #1 8/4/10....Missed m/c at 9 1/2 wks, d&c BFP #2.on 2/2/11....Due date 10/14/11 - Hoping for my miracle!

Welcome to the board, Maddie!

Name and SO's name: Anna (30) and DH (30)

Kiddos/pets?: DS Teddy (1) and dog Molly (12)

Where do you live?: England, UK

What do you do for a living?: Graphic Designer

Do you have a TTC date?: June 2010 - nearly there!

What are your major reasons for waiting, and how is your progress going?: Child spacing - I want Teddy to be at least 2 years old. Plus, we need to move into a bigger house, although that's not so urgent (a small baby hardly takes up any space; plus it takes at least 9 months anyway!). On the house fornt, we haven't really seen anything suitable (and within budget!) yet but we're hoping to buy in summer.

Are you feeling the baby fever right now?: Totally. Really, really badly. I can absolutely relate to what Devin said... I didn't think it'd be as bad this time as I've already got one, but it seems almost stronger?!

What is your favorite outdoor activity?: Taking walks in the countryside

Name and SO's name: Kate and DH
Kiddos/pets?: Grace and Liam, 20 month old twins
Where do you live?: MD, USA
What do you do for a living?: I'm a SAHM, DH works for the gov't.
Do you have a TTC date?: As soon as AF starts next time (beginning of May?), we will probably TTC again.
What are your major reasons for waiting, and how is your progress going?: I am taking a break to let my mind and body heal after my early miscarriage last week.
Are you feeling the baby fever right now?: Yes, still. The m/c at least gives me hope that we can get pregnant on our own and it makes me want to try right now again. I know it's in our best interest to wait though.
What is your favorite outdoor activity?: Right now, it's watching the kids play in the yard. I love kayaking even though I haven't been in years.
