Can I join you here?

Hi all! Hope you don't mind me crashing the party. LOL I'm hoping that joining the WTT boards will help make the time pass a little easier and give me an outlet for my baby fever.

A little in the way of introduction; I'm 32 and DH is 36. We've been married for almost 8 years and have two wonderful furkids (dogs). We had been planning to start TTC this past spring but life got in the way and we decided to postpone. Right now we're on the fence (well, actually *I'm* on the fence) about when to start TTC. DH is ready NOW but I'm just not sure the timing is right. I'm a devoted distance runner and just qualified to run the Boston Marathon--which isn't until April. I trained really hard to get my qualifying time and I'm not sure how I feel about the possibility of all that work going to waste if I get pregnant before April. BUT, I'm also not sure how I feel about waiting to TTC. It's the pits to have your two biggest dreams collide in a moment of bad timing! LOL I'm very confused right now about what the right thing to do is. I'm not getting any younger and I *do* worry about the possibility that I may have problems conceiving. Right now I'm on the pill but when I'm not, I can go months without a period. I'm sure that doesn't signal great things for my fertility.

So, right now I'm officially WTT, but I don't know until when. Is anyone else in the same boat? Ready but not ready? Any advice? I'm really looking forward to sharing these next few months with some other folks in the WTT holding cell. :-)

Awesome about the marathon running! I'm inclined to "recommend" you go for that and then TTC right away afterwards. That's quite a feat to qualify, and what's another few months in the grand scheme? Is it possible that your period droughts (ha) are because of your intense training? I know that you need a certain amount of body fat to have a normal cycle, so maybe once you stop training they'll pop right back to normal?

I'm also in limbo, waiting on some job details to get worked out before TTC. My hubby and I likely have a big move ahead of us and we want to know where we'll land before throwing a baby into the mix. Best of luck with your decision!

Hi and welcome to the group. I'm a little bit in the same boat LOL. I already have 2 children and am debating on #3. We have not come to a firm decision yet and are giving ourselves until Sept. 2009 to decide FOR or AGAINST. But in response to your post. I really don't see a big problem in waiting until after April. It's really not that far away...and if your serious about ttc...maybe you should stop the pill now (of course use other protection) and start tracking your ovulation. That way when you ARE ready...you can be more prepared. And if you end up needing fertility help, you will already know that. It will give you a bit of a headstart. Good Luck

Hi! Welcome to WTT:)

I am sorry that you are in such limbo about TTC if I were you I would probably go for the marathon but one thing you could do know is start charting your cycles. That way you would be able to know right away if you were ovulating or not once you started to TTC and if you weren't your doctor could help you and you wouldn't "lose" any time. When I was in highschool I had very irregular periods as well, and one time went a year without one but now that I have been off the pill about 6 years later I have found that I do ovulate (so far), I think this has to do with me not being as skinny as I was in highschool. So I would try not to worry too much about your cycles as they may have changed completely:)

I'm Ashley, 22, and my fiance Thomas 27, and I are waiting until summer of 09 or 10 to start TTC.

Hello! I think thats great that your such a great runner! I mean, since you have this goal, to run this marathon, then I say DO IT! Live your dream! You dont want to chance regreting getting pregnant before you had the chance to run this race! But I would say to get off the pill now and let your body start to regulate, that way when the time does come to TTC... you wont have to start from scratch... you'll already know your cycles and your body, and that alone is half the battle! So good luck with the race and TTC! I hope it all works out for you!

Thank you all for your input! I think you're right that I should go ahead and plan to TTC after April when I won't be having so many mixed feelings (I hope). I am going to talk to my doctor though and see what she thinks. I've spent too much time on the TTC 6+ months board and it has scared me about my age and continuing to wait.

Anyway, I have an appointment with my OBGYN in November and will discuss going off BCP now and letting my cycle regulate and see what it does. I've been on BCP for 12 years so I'm a little nervous about what's going to happen when I come off. I hope I don't turn into some kind of hormonal crazy person! LOL

I guess I will be around this board for awhile though. I hope all of our stays here are short and sweet!
