Does anyone wonder about baby's future..

Does anyone ever wonder if this is a good time to bring children in the world? I know that sounds bitter and depressing but I wonder if anything thinks what it will be like for their child in 15 to 20 yrs. I tend to think of now and how badly I want a child but with the state of things (gas, politics, housing issues) I wonder if its the right thing to do. Hopefully this nagging doubt in the back of my head fades....anyone's thoughts on this are appreciated. Thanx

I guess I tend to think of how everything is cyclical...in that we've seen recessions before and this will not be the last one, but the good news is that it does get better eventually.

I think about this, and many of my friends, do, as well. Personally, I feel like I could raise children who would make a difference and help a lot of people. Hopefully I and DH will be here to support them, even if times are tough . . . I agree with PPers, I think there are always tough times in history--the great depression, the middle ages, revolution, civil war, you name it. I think there are definitely tougher times ahead than we've ever seen in our lifetimes, but I know we'll get through it as a family. In many ways I think this is the most exciting time in history. We have a global society, a global responsibility. Our potential is limitless. And hardship is definitely part of that, but really, I think it's part of all things and that there is just as much to learn when things are difficult than when things are easy--maybe more.

I think about it a great deal. The way the economy and things are going right now really scares me with it just being my and DH. I sometimes worry about whether DH and I will be able to keep up with just the two of us let alone starting a family. I mean even with both of us working meeting all the bills

Thanks everyone for the thoughts. I agree family is going to be crucial to anymore bad times to come. Next time I start a discussion, I will try to make it more positive. :)
