I don't have any kids yet, but I feel the same way about seeing pregnant women everywhere I go and pining over every baby item I see! You're not alone! I think it's hardwired in us.
My DH and I had a similar talk last night, in fact, and he isn't ready yet either. I had gotten my hopes up because he had been pointing out PG bellies all weekend and having fun looking at baby stuff at the mall with me, but then the reality set in that we don't have the means to afford a baby right now. We're talking about TTC next summer, though, and after some discussion he was willing to agree to that date.
I know, it's so hard! And it feels like he doesn't understand why you feel the need NOW, right?
We're all in the same boat here, so stick around. We understand. :-)
Hi, nice to meet you!
I just joined the board too. Im sorry that youre feeling that way and hopefully with a lil push and some puppie dog eyes you wont have to cancel your apt. I had my IUD taken out in July of this year due to severe cramping. (this was before we decided to try next year) and havnt really been on anything cause the BCP make me sick to my stomach.
So if nothing else, just tell him your takin it out regardless and getting on the pills... maybe that will buy you more time. good luck!
Waiting for the right time is such a hard thing. DH and I are also waiting for "the right time." But it seems that there is always some impediment, foreseen or unforeseen. I think one strategy in dealing with the nebulous nature of preparing for children is to make measurable milestones that both you and DH agree on. Like, "we need to pay down the credit cards to an $xxxx.00 balance, have $xxxx.00 in the savings account, and have a car that can run without being fixed for at least 12 months." So maybe by sitting down and writing down each milestone that you agree on together, you can draft them and stick 'em on the fridge. As each milestone is achieved, you can have a little dinner or champagne to celebrate. For me, it's having that progression, like I'm working toward something instead of just running in place. I like to be able to see that I'm getting incrementally closer to the goal.
We're here for you and we understand the emotional difficulties in waiting when your natural biology is screaming for action! ;)
