Hi everyone, I'm Mary, age 27, DH is 30. We were TTC for the past few months, and it didn't work. :( Now we need to take several months off....I am just finishing my doctorate, and can't exactly start a school year when I'm about to pop. Right now I teach at two different universities as adjunct faculty, and if I continue those next year, I wouldn't get any sort of maternity leave since I'm just part-time. And if I manage to land a full-time job....I don't want to have a baby in the middle of my first year there.
Since I'm still still in my 20s, we figure that we'll try for a late-spring or summer baby for a couple of years...but once I hit 30, all bets are off, we'll be trying like crazy and screw it if it doesn't work with my work schedule! This has been a really emotional process for me....we planned really carefully to make sure we were ready to get pregnant by this fall, and then...it didn't work. We bought a 2-bedroom condo three years ago, and then this past year saved up a decent "baby's first year" fund and bought a more "baby-friendly" car. All the ducks are in a row....but here I am, not knocked up. D'oh!
Anyway, I've been posting on the TTC Your First Child board for the past few months, and now it seems more appropriate for me to be here. You all seem really wonderful and upbeat -- it's great to read about you! Thanks for listening.
