I'm Jen (31) and my hubby's Jeff (36).
Welcome to the board!
Welcome to the board! I've recently undergone a similar transition, from thinking that kids ruin your life and suck away your freedom, to thinking BUT I STILL WANT ONE! I changed my mind roughly 2 months ago, and my husband expects me to change it back very soon. :-) He says he doesn't want to start TTC until I'm not longer obsessed with TTC. Good luck. :-)
I don't think it's nuts that you want to know so much so early, Jen. That's exactly how I am. I've always known that I wanted to have kids and it was really hard to wait, even though I'm only 21. I think the reason it's so important to me is because I've never really had a great family relationship. When the urge got high (baby fever) I plan something related to the baby.
I have planned the nursery already, I have names picked out, I have a "maternity style" in mind, articles helped me to gain a lot of knowledge - and all of this is saved on my computer.
It's really neat that you have changed your mind and you're being cautious and smart about the situation. It seems as though you have a handle on how you want to move forward. I'm sure you'll learn a lot about planning and what women are doing to get ready.
Thank-you all for the welcome.
I'm Katie (24) and DH is Brad (28). We plan on trying Sept '09 (right after our 5 year anniversary). It sounds like you came to a good decision for you and your DH and have planned very well. I completely understand the wanting to know everything early and my DH thinks I'm crazy as well. I have TCOYF (Taking Charge of Your Fertility which many of the ladies here recommended) and to pregnancy/prepregnancy books. Hopefully we can help make your wait fly by.
