How do you know when you are ready?

Dh and I have been waiting to buy a house before TTCing or even thinking about kids. For some reason we started talking about this yesterday while we were looking for houses. I was telling him how we should aim for a fall baby next year. Then I got all queasy and nervous. I turn to him and ask him if he feels apprehensive about ttcing at the end of this year and he says NO! Why are these things easier for men? It's kinda odd that I got nervous about it, just last weekend I bought some fabric for bedding for a nursery! I think when the times comes to actually think about it, it hits me that this is it!

Anyone has any words of advice?

I don't know about knowing when you are ready, I've been wtt for 4 years now & some days (ok...weeks!) I would get really down & out & dh would say "Let's try now, serioulsy" and I would totally freak out & get scared & nervous & say "No, it IS better that we wait" I guess it "scared" me back to what is best, waiting. We are going to ttc this Dec & I am so anxious, but at the same time so completley nervous. So I don't know if there ever is the time you "really know"!

Knowing that YOU'RE ready is one thing...him deciding when HE'S ready is another, LOL! It's a huge, huge step. And oddly enough, you have plenty of time to second guess yourself. Normally, you make a decision and you do it--what to have for dinner, which shirt to buy, etc. Having a baby is not only SO much more life changing than those two examples, but you have all of that time to TTC to think about it and then NINE months of pregnancy, half of which you just might be sick and wondering what in the world you were thinking! Some men seem to be WAY more concerned than us girls, while others are taking it easy (guess they aren't the ones that have to be pregnant!).

You should feel lucky! Those things usually are not easier for men! There must be some unwritten rule somewhere that says one of the two people setting a TTC date must be apprehensive about it! Maybe your feelings of nervousness are really feelings of excitement;) Don't worry about it!
