I just don't get my DH...

My DH found the basal thermometer I bought and got very upset with me. WHY??? Because he doesn't believe in "working" at getting pregnant. He said that he felt like my buying that thermometer was deceptive and that I was trying to trick him or something. (Yes, I think he is a freaking nutcase!) I told him that I was still in the pill and wouldn't go off until we were ready to TTC, but I bought the thermometer so I could get a better understanding of my cycle and temps when I went off the pill and we started TTC.

Obviously this led to a bigger discussion. The man doesn't believe in fertility treatments or charting or anything, he said if you don't get pregnant by just going about your normal daily business, then that's it. Apparently I was really lucky to get pregnant with DS so easily and just didn't know it. Can you tell this all bothers me a lot?

Well, when we do start TTC (assuming that happens someday), I can still check my other body's signs to know when I'm fertile and he'll never know. SO THERE!

Still in shock,

((((HUGS)))))) sorry your DH is being so difficult! Do I need to come over and lay the smack down on him!? Seriously he needs to get a grip. It's not like you've stopped taking BCPs behind his back! But you're right about being able to check your other signs. HA! Nuthin he can do about that!

Good luck to you.

JenP,

Just tell your husband that taking your temperature isn't just for getting pregnant, but also tell you if something is wrong with your body. A friend of mine got pregnant had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. She took her temperature and knew something was wrong because after she had per period, her temperatures dropped and then rose two days later to astronomical levels. Her dr. ignored her plea that something was wrong and she was rushed to the hospital soon after with internal bleeding.

I really think that this temp thing is important. After Sarah told me that temping was good I checked into it and that's how my friend told me her story. I also wouldn't know that my luteal phase is short, but I went to the Dr and everything is ok for now.

It's true that taking your temp every morning reminds you of TTC and sex, but it gets easier with time. I take it some mornings and later wonder if I took it and look at the calendar to see if it's written there.
