I think I'm no longer WTT...

We were supposed to start TTC *next* month. Then on Sat, DH decided we just need to get over our fears and do it. So we started on Sunday. I'm pretty sure I Oed Sunday or Monday (I don't chart, but my cycles are really regular so I can guess my O date). So, looks like we started TTCing, huh?

I've waited 4 very long years for this. And now it's here. And man, am I scared out of my mind. I've been so patient--this is what I wanted--and yet I'm so full of all the, "What if?"s.

So, that's it. I'm officially into my first 2ww ever (DD wasn't planned). It's surreal.

Thanks so much for your response. I guess I agree with you that women in academia shouldn't HAVE to put their personal lives on hold. I guess I get so nervous because in a lot of ways, it's the stodgiest and least female-friendly career you can have.....but the bottom line is, that is unacceptable. I should be able to work towards my career goals and my family goals at the same time....and if one slows the other down slightly, then so be it.

That said....I got fitted for a diaphragm, and if we find out that this cycle didn't work, then we'll be careful for several months. Of course, NOW I've been hired to teach two courses during summer school....but if I have to back out of that, whatever.

You must be counting down the seconds until December. Just remember to take a deep breath and let the babymaking be FUN. Go into it knowing that it may or may not work these first few cycles, and either way, it won't be your fault. And if it doesn't work in time for your Africa trip, then you'll get to try again pretty soon. GOOD LUCK!!!

I think I may be in a similar boat in that this may be my quasi-unintentional two week wait!

We TTC'ed for three months, then decided we ought to take a hiatus because at least for now, we're trying for a late spring or early summer baby, since I work in academia. Then we "accidentally" had unprotected sex on Friday (he was going to pull out but, well, we got carried away.) Then Saturday we talked about it a little, and realized that maybe getting pregnant this one last cycle wouldn't be the end of the world....we weren't totally "into" trying, but figured, hey, what happens, happens. And so, we BD'ed again. We hadn't been BDing much before that, but I am quite certain that I O'ed over the weekend (I charted and temped before, and my O usually comes around CD 13, which was Saturday. Plus I felt like I was O'ing.)

So now, while we weren't REALLY trying, we seem to have BD'ed at exactly the right time -- day before and day of O. I'm not holding my breath -- it really would be a mixed blessing at this point, as it would be a mid- to late-summer baby which would put my career on hold....but then, it would still be blessing no matter what. :) So.........I don't know what to think. I am impatiently waiting for two weeks!

I hope this is not only your first but your LAST 2ww and that you get a lucky BFP on your first try! Sending baby dust your way!
