Hello All!
I am Belynda, 30 and I am married to DH Matt, 29. We have 1 DS, Bryon who is 2 (2007 Sugarplum.)

We are waiting to TTC, because of $$$$$! The reasoning is so aggreviating to me it is unbelieveable. We have been struggling for so long, that to wait for #2 becuase of $, to me means that DS will be an only child.

While I was pregnant and right after DS was born, I was dead set on only 1. I am an only child, and told everyone that I turned out ok, and so will DS. I lost my job in January 2009, and became a SAHM for 5 months while looking for a new job. It was during that time that the baby bug bit, and hasn't gone away yet.

My goal is to start TTC in April. DS is (an almost) Christmas baby, so we want to avoid another Christmas due date. We have really knuckled down on our family budget over the past 2 months, both becuase we really needed to, and also DH's requirement for starting to TTC is that we have all the bills up-to-date, and paid on time and a positive balance in the bank account for 3 consecutive months. We put all the pieces into place, but life keeps happening and the set-backs are piling up. DH is mainly concerned with the cost of formula and DC, and also staying afloat while on maternity leave.

There are other factors that we have thought of that are holding us back as well. DS is "sort of" potty training. DC is working on it with him. He goes on the potty, if you put him on it, and is very proud of himself when he goes. But, he does not tell us when he needs to go. We have transitioned him to his "big boy bed" this past weekend. He had a convertable crib, so he has taken the change very well. We are both very surprised. We haven't had to battle to keep him in it. He even stays in it in the morning, and still waits for us to come and get him!

We also have a space problem. We have the room for #2, but only after rooms in the house are "repurposed". This of course, requires some money, which is obviously an issue. We have been working on it slowly but surely, when resources are available, but it is definetly slow going.

Wow, this was a lot longer intro then I had planned.
If anyone has any advice, or opinions to offer, I am all ears!

P.S. - I really need to update my siggy. The pic of DS is over a year old, but he is definitly still this cute!

Thank you to all for the warm welcome! The money woes continue, so the WTC continues! We have a chronic 1 step forward 2 steps back problem.

There may be a glint of light at the end of the tunnel. Last year I worked temporarily for the U.S. Census. I got a call a month or two ago, asking if I want to be left active in the database for the actual census taking place this year. As much as it pains me to be away from DS & DH so much, I will definetly be taking the part time work when they call. This time the work is primarily nights and weekend, which works well with my current employment, and for $15 an hour, how can I say no. I keep telling myself that it is temporary, the money will be a huge held and DS won't remember that Mama wasn't home at night for a couple months, when he gets older.

Here's hoping that the endless need to keep the bills paid and the budget going will drown out the biological clock ticking loudly in my ear.

Hi Belynda,

My son's middle name is Byron :) It's my husband's middle name and his dad's middle name too. We're waiting for similar reasons. Our tax return really helped our debt situation but we have a balance on one more card that we need to pay down in the next 6 months. We have "an overdraft problem" as well and we need to get a constant budget nailed down before throwing more diapers into the mix ;)

Good luck waiting! I have baby fever too. I'm hoping this board will help me be less baby crazy ;)

Hi and welcome to the Board! I'm Claire and a newbie also. Your reasons for WTT sound very similar to mine. I look forward to getting to know you!

Hi Belynda! Welcome to Waiting to Try! I'm Becki, your CL and I'm 24. My hubby Paul (25) and I are waiting until hopefully later this year - maybe a whole year from now, he isn't sure - to try for our first.

We are waiting on money too, largely. Good luck getting it all in order! Your goals sound very reasonable!

Proud CL of Waiting to Try - Thanks for my sig Katie!

Hi Belynda and welcome! I'm Alyson, 19 and my DH and I are WTT until probably late 2012 for me to finish school, get financially stable, and me to lose some weight. Your son IS too cute!

Along with Suze Orman, I also recommend Dave Ramsey. I've been reading and watching his stuff and it's really helping me get financially organized (if that's possible with being in college). Sometimes it really helps when others have tips to lead to your success. Anyhow welcome and feel free to jump in with us!

Hi Belynda! Welcome to the board! Bryon is so cute!!

I'm Victoria and we're WTT sometime this year. I wish you the best of luck with your financial situation, I know how frustrating that can be sometimes. Have you checked out financial expert Suze Orman? I'm a big fan and our finances are in order thanks to her.
