New to this board! WTT #1
Tue, 04-14-2009 - 2:57pm
Hi everyone! My name is Tracie and I am 26 and my DH is 26 as well. We are WTT for baby #1. We have no date in mind yet as to when we will start TTC. I have been consumed with having a baby since we've been married (9/2006). He wasn't ready emotionally for a long time.. now he says its finances. I keep telling him that nobody is ever really ready financially, that you just have to deal with it when it happens and go from there. He doesn't believe me yet.. I am so tired of waiting! Hi Tracie!

Welcome to the board:) I'm Ashley 23 and my husband is Thomas 27. We are waiting until this fall, although I may be able to convince him to start this summer- I'm working on it! Because like you it has become a bit all consuming for me and I think we need to just do it and stop waiting. He doesn't completely agree but he is getting there:D

I hope you have a great time here with us. I know many of us lurk on the TTC boards and can relate to where you are coming from!

Hey there Tracey welcome to the board! I'm Rachel(23) and DH is 26 and we are WTT for our first as well.

When I read your post it was like reading my first post all over again! We don't have a set date yet we are waiting for DH to feel ready and trying to pay off some debt in the meantime...he gets a little closer everyday but it definitely makes the wait alot harder for me when there is no set date to count down to.

I can also relate to everyone around you being pregnant right now we have 6 friends that have had babies since December and 8 more who are still pregnant. Crazy right? So I definitely had all those feelings of not being able to escape it. But I am trying to find things to do to keep my mind off it as much as possible and when I can't stop think about it...I Internet daydream. I browse for things that I like and read reviews on baby gear or go hang out with my friends that do have kids and fill my baby fever that way.

Hang in there!

ps I also know the feeling of wishing for an oops, we aren't on BC right now because it makes me a crazy person so we are charting to avoid. There are days were I wish the chart was wrong but alas....(sigh)

Anyways welcome again, you ran across a bunch of great ladies!

Welcome Tracie! My name's Becki, and I'm 23. My DH, Paul, is 25 and we're WTT until next summer at the earliest. I feel crazy with baby fever often, too - I am convinced of pregnancy symptoms every month, and I get extremely excited at any mention of babies or pregnancy. I often get into baby-modes, and start reading anything I can find online about babies and pregnancy compulsively!

After DH and I had a big talk a month or so ago, I've calmed down about it a lot and resolved to live my life until then without constantly talking about babies. The only thing I've found that helps is to get started on new projects and ambitions.

Paul is coming around at his own pace, however; we went to the mall today and he pointed out all the pregnant ladies. I don't want to get pregnant before he feels ready to raise a child, but I am very hopeful that that day will come soon!

My DH also was "not ready" for a baby when I accidentally got pg in 2007.

I'm right there with most of you. I'm 24 and my DH is 24 in a few days. I'm so ready emotionally DH wants to wait till we are financially ready. Which as we all know is never gonna happen, finances rise and fall constantly. If you don't try every time the finances are not right then when does it happen???

We thought we might have had an oops right before winter, the test was negative, we both thought we would be relieved but when we saw that test we were actually bummed. We talked it over and decided we would try after the plow season. Well it's after the plow season and now he wants to wait till we are better financially stable. Now every time I see my cousin's baby boy, friends kids, friends who are trying, a baby in the grocery store my heart seems to break because I don't have one of my own yet, and we aren't even trying. I know it would be smarter for us to wait, buy a bigger home, blah blah blah.
I, too, have been trying to find all these things to fill my days so that I'm not thinking about how I want to have a child.
I don't want to continue to push the subject with him, I know he will come to it on his own terms. There are times that I see how wonderful of a father he will be and I see it in his eyes that he wants to be a daddy. I just wish he would realize it quicker! LOL.

Rock on!

Hi Tracie, You are definitely NOT alone! I can relate to your post. Although my baby fever has been only in the last 6 months or so, i find myself doing many of the things you mentioned (looking at TTC boards, looking at various baby/pregnancy info sites online etc...). Sometimes I hate my birth control because it's so good at what it's supposed to do! ;o)

I too am surrounded by kids/babies/pregnancy. My 2 coworkers were pregnant last year at the same time (this is probably when I first started feeling some baby fever). They both have 6-7 month old babies now, so I get lots of updates (it's just the 3 of us in this building); my one best friend had her 3rd baby girl in December, my other best friend is pregnant with her first and due in November of this year, another coworker in the same department as me is now 5 months pregnant--and there are 8 children in my family (Ages 6 months - 10 years old). Surrounded by it...i'm the ONLY one in my family and my office who doesn't have children. Fun.

Oh the wait. One thing I've tried to do tho is to cut back on reading online about baby stuff...only a couple times during my cycle when my hormones are high do I find that easier said than done!I have had the 'when is this gonna happen' talk with BF (a few weeks ago) and expressed that it's getting emotionally harder for me to wait until next year--yea, we're still waiting until next summer to try--but at least he is VERY aware of how emotional this wait is. I told him I'd be checking back with him on the topic every few months to make sure we are still on the same page. I'm not sure I'd be very patient if next summer rolled around and I got the 'not yet' response. I hope that doesn't happen.

Best of luck to you!
