Re-Introducing Myself

Hi my name is Shannon, 26. DH is Jeff 28, and I have one son Clayton who just turned a year old on May 14th.

I joined the board when my son was a couple of months old, but then got way to busy with him to be able to go on line very often. Now that he is older and I am back to work I have a little me time back.

I have bad baby fever, but would like to lose weight, get more healthy, and pay of some debt before we have another. I am hoping that by hanging out with you guys, I'll be able to keep the baby fever at bay for a while since we don't plan on trying to conceive until 2012 most likely.

Can't wait to join the group.

Hi Shannon!
I'm Sara, and I think I remember you from the May 2009 EC board? Our sons are born on the same day! I think Ive had baby fever in one form or another since Evan was 6 weeks old! Welcome to the board! Everyone is great here-and it's so nice to have others to wait with!

Hi Sara! I think I remember you from the May EC as well. Evan is too cute. That is pretty neat that they are born on the same day. Was that his due date? Clayton was born 2 weeks early, but I have to say May 14th is pretty much my favourite day now. How did you handle him turning one? I cried like a baby!
My baby fever has gotten so much worse since I've seen how many people from the May EC are pregnant again! Makes me so jealous. Good to know that everyone here is great. I am excited to have people to wait with.

Hi Shannon, welcome back! Happy birthday Clayton! In case you don't remember me, I'm Becki, your CL. I'm 24 and my DH Paul and I are waiting to try for our first, not sure when - maybe this fall or sometime next year. I'm in the "Eventually" buddy group, which you should come down and join!

So you're thinking a 4 year age difference? That's what my brother and I are, so I've always thought it worked out well. How did you come to that date?

Also, I see you're hoping to lose 100 pounds, so I give you my support, sister! I have lost 85 pounds and I'm shooting for a goal of 170, which would be 115 pounds lost. It's been a long-term goal, and I've lost all that weight over three years, but I'm still working at it. I hope to get down to my goal weight before TTC. We also have a losing weight buddy group, so join us there!

Proud CL of Waiting to Try - Thanks for my sig Katie!

Clayton is adorable too! I love his smile! Judging by your siggy, is he obsessed with swings too? Evan would stay in them all day if he could (which is funny because he HATED the baby swing). Evan was 6 days early--I had to be induced due to low fluid (and an assortment of other issues that came up all at once). It is really hard to believe that he's one already--I'm in such awe of the things he's learned to do and how much hie personality has developed since last year!

There are so many women who are pg on out playgroup-it does make me jealous! I'm feeling a little better lately because DH finally agreed to a TTC date (July!!!), but before, not knowing was making it even worse!

How exciting about starting to TTC in July congrats! That should be a nice age gap too. I was induced to, but mine was due to gallstones, I was having so many attacks they were worried about him. That and they were worried that he'd start getting addicted to the morphine they were using to control the pain.

Clayton loves the swings for sure. Well he loves anything out doors! Though I have to say his new thing is water. My in-laws live really close to a river and he will sit in the water for hours. The other weekend he cried when we took him out, and try reasoning with a one year old right.

Is Evan walking yet? Clayton is starting to really walk but he still perfers to crawl since he can to that much faster than crawling.

Shannon, for me it has been all about two things: First, calories. I use a calorie counting website and I have trained myself to enter in everything I eat - and through that I've learned how many calories are in most everything. Some people worry about counting carbs or fats or proteins, but it's too hard to count everything, so I focus on calories as the bottom line.

The second is realizing that it will take a LONG time, and that you will not stay motivated the entire time. You just have to keep picking yourself back up from where you started. It's taken me 3.5 years so far, and I will have a good 30 pounds I'd like to lose, but losing this much weight takes so much commitment and dedication that I just can't do it when I have something else big going on. I've started new jobs at least three times since I was my heaviest, and during those transitions I haven't lost weight, sometimes for 6 months. But I accept that and start again. As many times as it takes.

Evan is the exact same way! His record is 12 steps on his own, but he still thinks crawling us the best way if getting anywhere. Maybe it's because they're born on the same day:)

Maybe May 14th does have something to do with it. lol. Clayton's record is about 20 steps. But that has been a long time coming. Though he won't walk on pavement or grass lol. He's a little picky about that. :)
