still on BCP? I bought a basal thermometer today because I just want to have it for future use *yeah, I know, I'm jumping the gun a bit*. Then I was wondering if there was any point in starting to chart and temp while still on BCP. We are supposedly going to start TTC in August/Sept 2003 and I mentioned that I should go off the pill now, but DH wasn't too excited about that, he wants to wait until August at least for that. GRRR!

TIA,

Hi JenP,

I started temping/charting 2 months before going off the pill. I'm a gun jumper myself! I did it mostly just to get in the habit. I don't think there's really a point to it other than that though. But I would recommend it though since it just gets you used to observing little things about your body. Mind you, they will change after going off the pill! Since the pill stops ovulation and changes your cervical fluid and such, that should all go back to normal right away to a few months of going off the pill. Too bad your DH doesn't want you to get off the pill now! Grrr!

Good luck!

Jen P-

You're not jumping the gun on buying a basal thermometer right now. I think it's smart for you to start temping and getting to know your cycles and what your body does. I've been charting mine and I have to say I have a short luteal phase (between ovulation and next period). I start spotting on day 8, so I may have to talk to my dr. about this and see if something needs to be done. Everything I've read said they should be between 10-14 days, preferrably 12 and more. I think my uteral lining starts breaking down before anything could implant due to hormones not functioning right. I know this even before I start trying, so we'll see what the dr says and I'll still try this coming month anyway.

As I ramble on, I'm sorry about DH wanting to wait until August to go off BCP. BUMMER!

Happy temping!
