Update on me

Sorry I've been gone for so long. I started work again on August 18th. School has been EXTREMELY busy and hectic- seeing as right now there are only 3 certified SPED teachers in the building when there should be 6, so of course I've got an overload of students. But at least it's been keeping me busy enough to lower my baby fever a bit.

Anyway- I finally went in to see my doctor on Wednesday and I am going to start seeing a neurologist to try to wean me off my seizure medication. Hopefully this whole process (however long it may take) will all go well. I'm kinda nervous that I may find out something bad like what if the medication has affected my fertility and then it will be hard to get pregnant. :( Anyway please keep us in your prayers

Welcome back!

I think your fears are normal, but you are brave enough to start the process with your doctor!

Well ladies here's the new scoop: I went in for my 1st appointment with the neurologist and he was surprised I was taking Depakote because doctors tend not to prescribe Depakote to young females. I said it's been 9 years ago that I was put on that medicine and he said it's just been within the last 3-4 years that doctors are finding it's bad for you... makes me wonder why my family doctors would continue to give me refills if they knew it was bad. >:(
Anyway since it had been 9 years since I'd had an EEG and an MRI, he decided to schedule that for me. Looking at my Depakote levels my PCP had taken, the levels were lower than they were supposed to be (probably cause a lot of times I forget in the morning when I'm in such a rush). But he said that since I hadn't had any seizures, that was a good sign I could probably stop taking the meds with no problems. So on the 7th I went in for an EEG and MRI, then went back to the neurologist on the 9th and my results were good (like I knew they would be) so he told me to drop to 2 pills a day instead of 3. I'm going back on Thursday and if I haven't had any seizures (which so far I haven't) he's going to let me go to 1 a day and then I'm assuming 2 weeks after that, if there's no problems, I'll get to stop taking it for good! :D
