I feel that it's time for a new thread since the other one is getting long!

It helps me tremendously to talk about my weight loss on here! In fact, I gained nine pounds when I stopped...So it's time to get real again!

You don't have to write your weight down: you could use percentages!

Your starting weight: 166 in February 2010
Your weight now: 154: was at 145 last April
Your goal: 127 or less
Your height: 5'2.5"
How are you doing it? I believe I did a too strict diet I couldn't keep up with, so now, even though I won't lose as quickly, I want to just focus on nutrition and exercise.

I've been avoiding this thread because I have been so terrible lately. It's really a vicious cycle. I am up to 208.5. :( Back in the summer I had gotten down to 197 or something, and I am so frustrated with myself for gaining 10 pounds back that I just want to eat lots of cake. It's really ridiculous.

I keep thinking to myself, "How did I manage to lose 80 pounds and now I'm having trouble with 10?" But it's been a long 5 years since I was at my top weight of 287, and I guess the struggle is new again.

I was just catching up about Ruby's awesome exercise classes. I love that idea, to take something fun and different. I'm glad you're loving them, Ruby! I wish I had a friend who would do that with me - I might have to ask around. My town's rec center is offering a hula hooping class! Could be fun, I'm terrible at hula hoop but at least it sounds amusing. My cousin did hoop classes and loved it. I'm asking my real-life girlfriends on Facebook if anyone will do it with me.

It's tough to lose and maintain!! I haven't lost anything this week...We can do this! I too wonder why I gained it back as I was doing so well...I think I need to move more! That class sounds great!

So yesterday we had a bake sale at work to raise money for a charity. I brought chocolate covered bananas - and ate 3 of them! They were delicious. I also ate a mini cupcake and a scone. That was a bit over the top. (At least I brought home to lava cakes to DH instead of eating them.)

But, I also went to the gym at work. I only did 20 minutes, so that doesn't make up for all the sweets, but it's a start. I walked on Sunday too. If I can get myself moving again each day, AND resist the snacking, we'll be back in business.

I was focusing on a mantra while working out on the elliptical - "My body, my life." A lot of people like to distract themselves while they're exercising, but I find I get more out of it and work harder if I'm focusing on what I'm doing and why.

I too prefer to focus and not read while working out! It is a start! We all indulge, it's going back on track and not giving up that is important!

I am taking it slow. I realize that I've always taking weight loss too radically in the past: even the healthy lifestyles being promoted, so I'll just focus on eating less and exercising more while eating mindfully, otherwise I will continue gaining it back!

I've been doing better this week, and had a good day today. I exercised at the gym at work Monday, and again today, and also did 15 minutes of yoga this morning. I ate an apple with cinnamon and Splenda after dinner instead of finding another whole snack/meal. I'm getting a bit hungry now, but it's nearly 10 p.m., so I have to retrain myself to accept that feeling and wait until tomorrow. That really makes all the difference - NOT eating a second dinner!

Good job, Becki!!

Christine, welcome back! I hope you reach your goals!

I am just taking it slow like I've said. I am going to enjoy the Holidays and eat clementines/take walks in between meals so I don't gain weight.

Welcome back Christine! Great job doing the 1-mile walk video!

I've on track this week and I'm down 2 pounds, to 206.5. Yay!!! Yesterday I went to the gym at work again, and did the elliptical and treadmill. I also downloaded a meditation podcast and just meditated, and it helped a lot to get me to stick with it. A book I liked, the Self-Compassion Diet, recommended meditation as a way to stick with mindful eating, and stay focused on yourself, reduce stress and anxiety that causes emotional eating. So while it's not exercise, it makes a difference.

I also have to report that I slept really well after all that exercise and meditation!

I started logging my food again on Calorie Count and they have a new feature, "Calorie Camp." When you log in your food and exercise it gives you goals and awards you "achievements," kind of like a video game. It's cute and actually motivating, because I'm logging back in to see if I've earned an achievement.

So today is the holiday party at work. It's at a Chinese restaurant. Luckily, I'm not a big Chinese food fan, so I'll just eat before I go and get a snack at the party, maybe 1 cupcake. They'll also be giving out free alcohol. My plan is to limit it to 1 drink.

Great job Becki! Doesn't it feel good to have an on-track week? You're lucky to have access to a gym at work. Is it free? :-)

Afm: So far I've worked out at home twice this week.. Tonight I did 35 min on the Wii and I'm craving a dance game so going to look for one after Christmas. Anyone have any wii games they recommend? I'm just tired of playing the same Fit games for the last three years!

I'm so excited, I have a new opportunity to get some exercise in! I saw two teachers huffing it down my hallway yesterday and it turns out they started working out after school three days/week so I'm going to join them starting next week. This is perfect because we have to stay 30 minutes after the kids leave anyway so at least I'll fit a workout in. My secret santa keeps bringing me candy, which isn't helping my diet, and today someone brought a cinnamon crunch cake from Panera and of course I cut myself a generous slice. OMG, it is so good, melts in your mouth.

Hoping my new workout vision will help me combat the temptations of the holidays. Going to my first cookie exchange next week. :-/
