Hey guys!

Let's have a chat thread about our daily struggles and successes with losing weight before TTC! Please introduce yourself. Let's do some questions:

-How has your weight journey been in the past?

-Where are you at now?

-How much do you want to lose before TTC?

-What techniques are you using?

-How can we help cheer you on?

I've been on the weight loss train for a long time now - Back in college (2006) I was up at 287. I lost about 40 pounds before my wedding in 2007, and since then slowly lost about 40 more. But I'd still like to lose 30-40 before TTC, and I've been off and on the wagon. Losing over 100 pounds successfully is a long ride.

Currently I'm at 203.5 and feeling great about it, because I've lost 7 just this month. My biggest asset during these four years has been counting calories on a calorie-tracking website, and I only manage to lose when I keep up with logging. Lately I've also been doing light exercise in fun ways - yoga that I enjoy, ping-pong with DH and ice skating.

I would love to get some lively conversation going to keep us all motivated!

I didn't have the best weekend for dieting - I went to a party last night, and while I tried to eat lightly, still had a glass of wine and an amazing cupcake that dominated my calorie intake for the day. And then today, DH and I went out for dinner and I definitely ate too much. It's crappy when AF makes you crave junk food!

-How has your weight journey been in the past? I've always gained and lost 5-10 pounds a year over the years, especially during winter...I have once lost 26 lbs and would love to go back at that weight! Stress and chronic pain have happened and I gained back the weight, plus 12 more lbs...
-Where are you at now? I now weigh 148 lbs, so have lost 17 lbs since last February.
-How much do you want to lose before TTC? I want to weigh around 130 lbs if possible, but losing has been hard for the past few months, I just seem to stabilize.
-What techniques are you using? I write down what I eat every day plus my exercise. My friend and I have been sending this to each other for a while and I can attest that it works since we both have lost weight!
-How can we help cheer you on? It's nice to be able to vent, especially when I put the weight back on or plateau!

Becki: I hear ya about AF! Seven pounds lost this month, way to go! Great questions by the way!

I am all game for some extra support!

-How has your weight journey been in the past? I lost about 35 pounds a couple of years ago through WW, and managed to keep it all off until about 8 months ago when

Best of luck with your journey! Portion control is tough! I have always read that a meat or fish size should be about the palm of your hand, and that the rest of the plate should be composed of half vegetables, and a quarter of a whole grain portion. Hope this helps!

I am right there with ya! Hopefully some extra support will help get through the hurdle. I know that my competitiveness is what helped me lose before...I really pushed myself to be the "biggest loser" every week at the WW meetings. It worked! But I am having a hard time signing up again for 15 pounds.

I don't have the problem when I cook simple meat and vegetable dinners...it is when I cook something different like pasta/spaghetti which is one of DH's faves! I can't control myself! I have started decreasing the amount of pasta that I put on my plate, but then I can't stop with only one breadstick (mmm, carbs, one of my major weaknesses)!

Have you tried whole grain pasta? It is good for you and the fiber helps feeling full faster!

Thank you so much!! I feel great about this month! This past week has been a little crazy because of AF fluctuations and some stress over possibly changing jobs (in a good way, but still, change is stressful) so I've been fluctuating. But today 204.5, even though I ate a huge delicious dinner last night :-) so not too bad! And if I eat well and exercise from now and over the weekend I hope to end the month at 203.5. That would be a fantastic month! I'm feeling good about it.

I did yoga last night for an hour - that was a challenge but it was great! Usually I only do 15-20 minute short yoga workouts, so I felt good about it.

One problem I'm going to have, which anyone has who loses a ton of weight, is loose skin. I already have wrinkly boobs from weight loss at age 25, haha. But with age on my side and a gradual loss, I hope it won't be too bad.

I do use whole wheat pasta, I just need to pay better attention to my stomach and quit eating when it starts to feel full. But it is hard when the food tastes so good.

So it's almost February - anyone have weight loss goals for next month?

Mine is to be 197 by the end of the month! 204 today.
