Hey guys!

Let's have a chat thread about our daily struggles and successes with losing weight before TTC! Please introduce yourself. Let's do some questions:

-How has your weight journey been in the past?

-Where are you at now?

-How much do you want to lose before TTC?

-What techniques are you using?

-How can we help cheer you on?

I've been on the weight loss train for a long time now - Back in college (2006) I was up at 287. I lost about 40 pounds before my wedding in 2007, and since then slowly lost about 40 more. But I'd still like to lose 30-40 before TTC, and I've been off and on the wagon. Losing over 100 pounds successfully is a long ride.

Currently I'm at 203.5 and feeling great about it, because I've lost 7 just this month. My biggest asset during these four years has been counting calories on a calorie-tracking website, and I only manage to lose when I keep up with logging. Lately I've also been doing light exercise in fun ways - yoga that I enjoy, ping-pong with DH and ice skating.

I would love to get some lively conversation going to keep us all motivated!

Congratulations on reaching 199! I'm sure you were thrilled to reach that milestone!

I'm down to 158, from 180 something (started out at 180 on a scale that always weighs low, and bought a more accurate scale that weighs me 3-5 lbs heavier than the old one). I've been very strict with my eating plan, and don't plan on letting up much until I lose another 10-15 lbs. I'm on a roll, and want to start my next pregnancy lighter than when I got pg with DD.

Good luck this week to everyone else trying to lose weight!

Nice to see this thread moving again. :)

Great job on the loss, Em!

I've lost a total of 15 lbs since I started posting on this thread. I started following the Leptin diet, probably a little too strictly because my milk supply has dropped some. I'm okay with it for now, because DD is 20 months and technically doesn't need 25+ ounces of BM each day. I need to lose another 15 lbs to be at or under pre-pregnancy weight, but ideally would lose another 25 lbs before TTC.

I am in the "hubby sabotaging weight loss" club, too. He's not trying to, but he is always offering for us to go eat ice cream etc because he knows how much I love it. I told him, I'm being very strict for another few weeks, and then will let myself have a treat once or twice a week (as long as I continue to lose slowly, and not head the other direction).

Good luck everyone! Hope everyone has a great week.

I feel the same way, Becki! I should perhaps swim again. It is too hot to walk outside and the stationary bike is starting to be boring!

That's amazing Em! Great going!! I am inspired by you doing the Learn to Run program - I've tried it before when I had a gym membership and it was very tough. I find running more difficult than any other exercise.

I've been hopeless lately. I'm back up to 199, I forget what I was before, but it was edging closer to 195. I have just wanted to eat and haven't been caring or counting. When I exercise it feels great, but I haven't been consistent! I need something new to get myself motivated once again, maybe a class.

I'm following WW online, running 3 times a week and generally trying to stay active.

I hear you! Mine keeps bringing candies and chips home, drives me nuts! I told him eating junk is not a way to deal with stress...

I can completely understand about husbands trying to sabotage your diet! haha...well of course not on purpose! But my husband is maybe 10 pounds overweight and he is a junk food junkie....I have sat down with him and had serious discussions about him not bringing stuff in the house, but if I cook something healthy, he'll eat it THEN two hours later he'll go out and get a burger because he says he's "still hungry".

I did the Dr Phil program off and on last year and lost 20 lbs. Right now, I have obviously not been meticulous. I have a stationary bike and like to walk some. I lift hand and ankle weights.

I have a pretty vast knowledge of nutrition, having grown up eating organic produce and whole grains. But I like gourmet meals a lot and wine, lol. Our CSA boxes are back and are forcing me to eat lots of veggies. I listen to Dr Oz's advice a lot and would like to focus on a great anti cancer food lifestyle.
