Hey guys!

Let's have a chat thread about our daily struggles and successes with losing weight before TTC! Please introduce yourself. Let's do some questions:

-How has your weight journey been in the past?

-Where are you at now?

-How much do you want to lose before TTC?

-What techniques are you using?

-How can we help cheer you on?

I've been on the weight loss train for a long time now - Back in college (2006) I was up at 287. I lost about 40 pounds before my wedding in 2007, and since then slowly lost about 40 more. But I'd still like to lose 30-40 before TTC, and I've been off and on the wagon. Losing over 100 pounds successfully is a long ride.

Currently I'm at 203.5 and feeling great about it, because I've lost 7 just this month. My biggest asset during these four years has been counting calories on a calorie-tracking website, and I only manage to lose when I keep up with logging. Lately I've also been doing light exercise in fun ways - yoga that I enjoy, ping-pong with DH and ice skating.

I would love to get some lively conversation going to keep us all motivated!

I hear you! Food is so good!

Becki: I hope everything works out for the better! Stess is not fun! I hope the loose skin issue won't be a long term problem for you...I've heard there is a surgery for that.

I am still weighing 148, which is my pre-holiday weight, so I am happy to have lost three pounds. I overindulged yesterday at my family's house and as a result, I don't feel good...Lesson learned! When I eat healthy, I feel healthier!

I'd like to go down to 145 lbs this month in order to have a total of 20 lbs lost!

Congrats on losing the three pounds!! I had a talk with my mom today trying to encourage her to count calories with me - she uses her stationary bike, but I keep telling her that watching your calories works faster than relying on just exercise. She doesn't seem convinced, but she's trying. I also told her some tricks like eating frozen fruit with Splenda on it instead of ice cream for sweet, cold snacks.

How is this week going so far?

Jaime - How are your portions going? The easiest thing for me is eating pre-packaged meals, that way the calories and portions are all set for you. Or anything that's pre-made, just eat whatever portion size is listed on the package. Last night I measured out 75 grams of delicious ice cream cake on my food scale! (The size listed said 1/15 of the cake - who knows what that is? - but it also said 75g, so I went with that to figure it out.) It's much harder if you eat home-cooked meals a lot, which I typically don't if I'm trying to lose weight. It is kind of sad, but easier to figure out.

Okay, seriously! Hubby has been sabotaging my diet lately! He brought home ice cream last weekend, and this morning, he got donuts and chicken wings!! I can't resist food when it's home, lol. I am still at 148 though.

Ahhh! I know how you feel, Paul requests to go out to eat nearly every day! Also at work there was cake... I successfully ignored it! But alas, I could not ignore the jar full of Starburst that also showed up at work - I ate 200 calories worth of them two days in a row. The good news is, I balanced it with everything else and have eaten within my goals the last two days!

Welcome Cassie! I know how you feel - I was always overweight too, my whole life. Last time I was under 200 was in middle school, and I'm getting closer, but still not back there. My highest recorded was 287, after I met my now-DH and gained a lot of weight eating junk food together in college! But even before then I was around 250. I've lost ~80 pounds mainly using caloriecount.com, which is very much like the WW plan - basically eat any foods you want but stay within a calorie limit.

It's great knowing that you CAN lose the weight, at least, since you did it with WW before! I have to keep reminding myself of that when I get discouraged too. I lost most of the weight all at once, and during the past year I only lost 10 pounds. I'm hoping to make this year the real year to get the job done, before TTC.

I know what you mean about depression - losing weight takes an enormous amount of effort. It has to be at the forefront of your mind. And if there are other major stressors going on, it's practically impossible to worry about calories at the same time. But at the same time, exercise helps with depression!

Yay! Nice to see someone in the same weight range as me, it's good to have company! I'm also fluctuating between 203-207 right now, hoping to get down to around 170 or less, but we'll see. (205 today.) I've never been anywhere near that low as an adult. How tall are you? I'm 5'6''.
