Hey guys!

Let's have a chat thread about our daily struggles and successes with losing weight before TTC! Please introduce yourself. Let's do some questions:

-How has your weight journey been in the past?

-Where are you at now?

-How much do you want to lose before TTC?

-What techniques are you using?

-How can we help cheer you on?

I've been on the weight loss train for a long time now - Back in college (2006) I was up at 287. I lost about 40 pounds before my wedding in 2007, and since then slowly lost about 40 more. But I'd still like to lose 30-40 before TTC, and I've been off and on the wagon. Losing over 100 pounds successfully is a long ride.

Currently I'm at 203.5 and feeling great about it, because I've lost 7 just this month. My biggest asset during these four years has been counting calories on a calorie-tracking website, and I only manage to lose when I keep up with logging. Lately I've also been doing light exercise in fun ways - yoga that I enjoy, ping-pong with DH and ice skating.

I would love to get some lively conversation going to keep us all motivated!

Welcome, Em and Cassie!

Becki: I hear you! Sometimes we just give in to unhealthy foods, the trick is not to stay there too long. Good job going back on track!

Well I can totally relate about stress and depression, raises hand! If only our life was stable right now...

Cool, I agree it's nice to see someone in the same range.

Thanks! 82 pounds over 4 years, but I am proud of not having gained it back, even though I am not finished. I'm glad to know that you felt good at 180-185. Having been overweight all my life, my goal is just to get to a point where I feel "normal."

As for eating at work - I actually find it easier than at home, because whatever I eat at work is what I brought. So the decision is already made. If I brought a 300-cal frozen meal, as I often do, that's what gets eaten. It's once I get home, eat a reasonable dinner and then have to restrain from going for a second dinner or dessert that's more difficult for me, or not finishing my meal if we dine out.

How is everyone doing this Monday morning? Did you weigh in any differently than last reported?

I'm at 206.5 this morning, so up! Not happy about that, but I exercised a bunch yesterday and ate 1500 calories. The good news is, I can definitely see I'm shrinking a bit in the belly. Even if my scale doesn't know it! I should probably measure inches, but I find it hard to make sure I'm measuring the same place.

I'll go ahead and jump in here too. I could use a supportive place to talk about weight loss...

Annie - Welcome! And thanks for your story, I loved reading it! I'm sorry you had such a rough time with your weight growing up. But it's interesting that it sounds like your mom hassled you about your weight because she couldn't deal with her own. My mom, who is and was also very overweight, did the opposite - she had bad experiences being criticized for her weight as a kid, and never wanted to do that to me, even to the point where she let me get extremely overweight and never said a word. When she knew I wanted to lose weight but didn't know how, she told me to count the calories on food boxes, but didn't actively help me do so, so I never caught on until I was living alone in college (and after winning a depression battle) and started logging my food online.

Em - Congrats on losing a pound, that's awesome!! Funny that we weighed in the same today! Good call on a used clothing store, I do it all the time. Did you end up finding something?

Good news - weighed in at 202 today! I'm so close - can't wait to be under 200 for good. I was there once for about a week last summer, but I went on vacation and let it go. Over the past year I've gained and lost the same 10 pounds. I want to move on for real this time! Definitely taking a photo once I'm at 199 for a couple of days in a row.

Bad news - woke up with a horrible, throbbing sinus headache. :-(
