Hey guys!

Let's have a chat thread about our daily struggles and successes with losing weight before TTC! Please introduce yourself. Let's do some questions:

-How has your weight journey been in the past?

-Where are you at now?

-How much do you want to lose before TTC?

-What techniques are you using?

-How can we help cheer you on?

I've been on the weight loss train for a long time now - Back in college (2006) I was up at 287. I lost about 40 pounds before my wedding in 2007, and since then slowly lost about 40 more. But I'd still like to lose 30-40 before TTC, and I've been off and on the wagon. Losing over 100 pounds successfully is a long ride.

Currently I'm at 203.5 and feeling great about it, because I've lost 7 just this month. My biggest asset during these four years has been counting calories on a calorie-tracking website, and I only manage to lose when I keep up with logging. Lately I've also been doing light exercise in fun ways - yoga that I enjoy, ping-pong with DH and ice skating.

I would love to get some lively conversation going to keep us all motivated!

Sounds a lot like me! I hit 200 in middle school too, and kept gaining - I got up to 287 after I met DH in college and we ate like crap together. It's been more than four years since I started working on losing weight, but today I'm down to 197!! I'd definitely like to be under 185, the "obese" mark for my height (5'6'') before TTC. My goal is something like 170, but we'll see. I have nothing to compare it to.

I know what you mean about traveling, too! If you're staying somewhere with a fridge available, if you go out to eat try to take half of it home, and skip bread and desserts. Congrats on the 6 pounds, that's an awesome rate of 1.5 pounds a week!!

How are you all doing?

I am still at 146, which is surprising to me considering that I haven't been exercising much, ate more at my parents' and been sick since Friday! A half pound more and I will have lost 20 lbs, yay!

I also found out that the indoor pool is free to use here when you are a resident!

Victoria: That's great news! Swimming is fantastic exercise, what a good benefit for you!

I haven't been great, still adjusting to the new job and that's thrown off my determination a lot since it's not at the top of my list of priorities. I'm trying to get back on track, but it's tough when you're feeling tired/stressed. I have been fluctuating around the same range though, so if I maintain for this month and get back on track for April that will be fine. I did talk a 30-min walk today at least.

Life makes it hard at times to eat right and exercise! Way to go for the walk! My bike pedal has been broken but DH just fixed it. I meant to walk but it has been cold and snowing here, plus I am sick.

I don't feel like I'm that strict since I tend to give in during holidays and dinners out...But I hope to still lose while TTC, should it take a while to conceive.

How is everyone doing? I am invited twice this weekend, so hopefully I will eat in moderation! Then on Monday, I want to write down everything I eat and when I exercise.

I've heard that one of the things to have in order to prevent cancer is have a BMI of 21 to 23, which means I would have to weigh between 120 and 127!! I have weighed 126 in the past so I could do it again...It is thin though!

I gained one pound, boo! Probably because I am just finally recovering from a two-week cold and only hopped on the bike once!

Victoria: Sorry about your cold, I hope it's gone! That definitely messes with your weight and makes you retain fluids.

So I've thought that March was a total failure in terms of weight loss, but I actually shot down to 195 all of a sudden! I exercised a lot this weekend, walked, did yoga and messed around on a tennis court, and this morning I reached my March goal. Yes! This makes me feel a ton better and all the more motivated. Also, my MIL was shocked to learn that I wear a size 16, she said she would have sworn we were the same size (she wears a 12-14.) Nice to hear that other people are perceiving me at a more average size, anyway.

What are everyone's exercise plans now that it's spring? I want to walk, hike and bike more.

So glad to hear you're down to 195, Becki!!!! 195 is my 'magic' number---it was the weight that I met my husband & the weight I felt the greatest emotionally and physically in my life. I'm so happy for you though and I know that comment from your MIL made you feel great! I completely understand that! I lost exactly 2 pounds this week, bringing the total to 6.7 pounds lost. I'm 242.7 and really hope to get out of the "240s" soon. Hoping to get down close to the 200s before start ttc. Seems so far away, but these "Walking Away the Pounds" video seem to be doing it for me. I worked out on them about 4 times this week and have really listened to my 'hunger signals' and I haven't felt deprived at all. Yay for a good weigh-in and a good day. About to go shopping with my dear momma too. =)

Congrats! How was your shopping?

Becki: Thanks, I ran a fever all day yesterday but I am doing a bit better now. I want to check out the city pool when I feel better, take more walks and resume my Pilates. I'd love to do yoga again! Congrats on reaching your goal! I overate all weekend, I guess I am depressed we are not TTC soon anymore...
