I know there are a few of us out here. I was just wondering what types of things you have been doing to help the time go by faster and also prepare. Also are any of you planning a preconception appointment or have you already had one?

I'm too WTT until August. I have been trying to keep busy to make the remaining months go by faster by working out more, trying to do a little more cleaning, and reading. I've been reading information online about good things to be doing before TTC like taking vitamins, getting to your ideal weight, etc. I had my yearly physical with my ob/gyn in April and I guess you could say that was my preconception appointment because I discussed with my doctor going off the pill and trying to start a family. He gave me lots of helpful information and ran some additional blood tests to make sure everything was ok with me before we start TTC. I'm almost through with my last pack of birth control so it is getting much closer.

Melinda, I am wtt #1 in august too! I don't know what can be done to help the time go by faster except that I am trying to cherish each and every day w/my dh, just the two of us. =) My annual exam is June 10 which is also my preconception appt. They already put me on prenatal vitamins. I've been off the pill since Feb. It's exciting to see others out there in a similar situation! We're wtt sisters! =)

Another August waiter here! We're starting a little August club here!

DH and I are like Jeni, we're spending lots of QT together. I've talked him into eating dinner at the table every night, instead of in the living room staring at the TV. We've been doing it all this week, and it's wonderful! It gives us time to really talk about our day and gaze into each other's eyes! :-)

We're also refinancing our house not only because it's such a great deal (5.5%!!!), but we're saving $100 a month, and we're trying to make our two-income budget into 1 income (his) so I don't have to work once we have the baby. I'm almost at the end of a pill pack, and I can't decide about taking another one. If I don't, then I guess we would have to be careful until August, but what does it really matter if we're a few months early on our plan???? I would love that actually! :-)

I'm like you Nicki! We're also working it out where we only live on one income right now(his). I'm not going to work either once I have this baby, the one that doesn't even exist yet but we talk about him/her like I'm already pregnant! This is so neat! =)

How did every one decide on August as the month to begin trying? For me there are several reasons. First of all, I am graduating in June and hope to find a job of some kind, probably part-time that I can quit whenever I need to once I become pregnant. Also, I hope (keeping my fingers crossed) to get pregnant right away so that I won't be pregnant during the heat of the summer. If we don't conceive that first month, we will take a month off because September would put me due in June. There is a weekend in June when DH has to work and he doesn't want to risk missing the labor. I love it when he talks about it too, he'll make comments like, "in just over a year, we're not going to be able to listen to this music any more."(due to profanities). I think it's cute. I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.

We compromised. He wanted to wait until like Nov/Dec, and I wanted to start in June, since it will be exactly 2 years after we were married. So we agreed on August, kind of a mid point.

My DH will be done with graduate school in June 2004 and will hopefully have a job soon after that. He always said we had to wait until he was finished with school to have a baby. Well he will almost be finished with school if we get pregnant right away and I am due in May and anytime after May of 2004 would be fine to have a baby. I just hope he is able to find a good job when he is done with school. We will probably have to relocate when he finds a job but that is ok with us since neither one of us really care for living in Texas.

I'm not really sure how we decided on August! When I started mentioning to DH that I might be getting ready to have a baby, he was kind of quiet so I wasn't sure what he really thought. Then after my 14 month old nephew visited for Easter weekend, DH was more than ready (Cole is such a sweetheart--he's addictive!). So I just threw out a date that wasn't too soon so it wouldn't freak him out, but wasn't too long, so I still had some negotiating room. When I mentioned August, he said, "We could do that." If I had known he would be so agreeable in the beginning, I may have said June! But August it is... :-)

I was just thinking about it, and if we conceive in August, we will be having the baby right around this time next year!! How exciting!
