I decided to make a new thread to draw in those of us, like myself, who are patiently waiting to try but have no set date yet!

For those of us in that category, please check in!

Name, age, SO's age:
Any kids already?:
What are you waiting for?:
When would your IDEAL TTC date be?:
What does DH think?:
How are you coping with waiting?:

Name, age, SO's age: Victoria, 29 and DH, 41
Any kids already?: None
What are you waiting for?: DH to get a job (just a minor detail!), get my chronic pain under control, lose more weight, feel more ready and prepared, secure, wait to have my yearly physical, save more money to buy a house eventually, get back into my music and maybe teaching.
When would your IDEAL TTC date be?: October 2011, but I won't be able to wait that long!
What does DH think?: He doesn't express it a lot, that's why this board helps so much. He just wants to feel stable. He goes more with the flow of whatever I decide.
How are you coping with waiting?: It depends on my cycle. PMS and O are very hard on me baby fever wise!! Other than that, I feel like I'm getting older and it is starting to worry me, and I worry that I might wait for the perfect timing for too long.

Great questions, Becki!

Thank you! I hope more will join the new thread, I know there are more than just the two of us who are waiting but have no TTC date yet.

Name, age, SO's age: Becki, 24, Paul, 26
Any kids already?: None
What are you waiting for?: DH to feel emotionally ready; saving up money; hoping to lose weight
When would your IDEAL TTC date be?: Pretty much anytime in 2011 would be great, with the exception of March because I'd rather avoid a Christmas baby.
What does DH think?: He is excited about the idea and says he wants to have kids, he brings it up a lot, but he doesn't feel quite ready to handle the reality of it. He also has never really interacted with kids, so he's afraid the unknown.
How are you coping with waiting?: I stalk this board, talk about it with friends sometimes, look at baby items online and in stores. When I'm feeling really indulgent, I watch birth, babywearing and breastfeeding videos. I also recently joined Big Brothers Big Sisters, so I now have a "little sister" to hang out with once a week. Paul is excited for the opportunity to get some more experience with children, too.

Name, age, SO's age: Michelle....29(30 in 2 weeks) and DH....29
Any kids already?: We have 2 precious little girls
What are you waiting for?: to get out of debt(or at least that's what the hubby is waiting for)
When would your IDEAL TTC date be?: For me......NOW!! hahahahah Hubby has us down for 2013 sometime. I don't think I can wait that long.
What does DH think?: He isn't much of a talker so I don't really know what he's thinking
How are you coping with waiting?: I found this board. I'm wanting to find something to channel my frustrations into while waiting. Maybe i'll start working out or something.

Hi Michelle, thanks for joining our little group!

Working out is always a great plan! I am trying to do more of that, I just went for an hour-long walk and it felt fantastic.

I agree about needing to channel your energy or distract yourself; my baby fever is worst when I have loads of free time to think.

I like this thread! :)

Name, age, SO's age: Kira, 27, DH, 26
Any kids already?: Nope
What are you waiting for?: For DH to get his sh!t together ::snicker:: It's really all him... I'm ready, he's not. I wish I could tell him to quit trying to plan everything perfectly, because even the best laid plans can go down the toilet!
When would your IDEAL TTC date be?: Anytime in the spring/summer of 2011 and beyond
What does DH think?: He thinks "we" are not ready for a baby. Just because "we" don't own a house yet. That's his biggie. I told him if we had to do the first year or two in a rental, that would be okay. I actually think it would be better for us to buy a house AFTER we have a baby, money-wise.
How are you coping with waiting?: I haven't been waiting for very long, so it isn't that bad yet. I've had 5 friends have their first baby this year, so their little ones help... and drive me crazy at the same time. :(

Hi Kira, glad you joined us! We're in the same situation with waiting for DH! One of the things Paul said over 2 years ago when I had baby fever is that we needed a house first, so lo and behold, I found us a house and coordinated almost everything to get it. But still no baby.

I'm not bitter about that, though, it was an important step, but the truth remains that he's still not ready. He's also 26, and I think he's still maturing and getting a handle on who he is as an adult and an individual before wanting to be responsible for another life. And I do want him to be ready and take equal responsibility for our child. I just hope he makes that turn fairly soon :-)

I like your name by the way, it's on my mental list. :-)

What is it with H's and wanting to buy a house first? Mine says the same thing! Right now we are trying to get everything in order so that we can start looking after the first of the year. Well, I say "we", I mean "me". ;)

I can't imagine how frustrated I would be with my H if he said "Buy a house, then we can have a baby" and then didn't follow through! I mean, I understand it's a HUGE step, but so is buying a house. Plus, the way I see it, a mortgage is a 30 year commitment - a baby is only a (hopefully)

Welcome to our buddy group, Michelle and Kira!

My DH would also love to own a house before we have a baby, but he knows that is just not possible.

I sat down and had a good heart to heart with the hubby today while the kiddos were in school. I voiced my feelings on not wanting to wait for the 3 years he's proposing. He in turn gave me his reasons for waiting. After really hearing him out I now see his point. He wants to make sure these kids have the best life possible. Hubby is Air Force, so when the 3years is up we'll be PCSing to another base, where he wants to buy a house.

I do have a question. How do you cope with the baby fever?? What do you do to distract yourself?? I want to be able to channel it to something, but not sure what.

I'm glad you had a good talk with your hubby, Michelle!

I think we all deal with baby fever differently. Sometimes, it helps for me to get more educated about PG, labor and childrearing, but other times, it doesn't at all. Getting busy with other projects and hobbies works good for me overall.
