I wanted to pass along this article talking about how grandparents are turning to technology in order to keep in touch with their long distrance grandkids: http://www.cnn.com/2013/01/23/living/boomers-and-tech/index.html?hpt=li_bn2

My mom has a new iPad that allows her to Facetime with us and other grandkids, she also has a Skype account.  My parents aren't tech savvy at all, but they are learning.  It's been wonderful to have that connection with them.

Do you have video chats with your grandkids?

I'm not too tech savvy, although have finally gotten the hang of texting.  I'm intrigued with the idea of video chatting with my grandkids, it sounds like a great way to stay in better touch with them.  I might have to look into treating myself with an iPad, I'm not sure I can do it on my computer?

I love texting and skyping with the grandkids. Since in todays world they are already using the computer almost as soon as they can walk.

Now if we could get on with the cars that float above the road, we would be in the Jetsons world :)

While my grandson isn't into texting yet, he is a busy wii player & while I'm not good at video games, I have found out how to go online to find videos of what he is playing so we can figure it out when he gets stuck. I have loaded my ipod with games for him to play when he is bored. We did skype with my eldest son this week so DGS could tell his uncle what he wanted to do for his 6th birthday. But it was short & sweet as DGS isn't a fan of chatting on the phone or skype. I think I'm doing well to be able to jump the tv between the wii, the dvd player & the tv stations. lol Dee

I Face Time with mine Daughter & Grands often.  My two yongest 4 & 7 can Face Time me all by themselves & I love it.  I text from my iPhone often too with family & friends.  My mother has a no-frills cell phone and that's it.  I can't convince her to get any of that techy stuff (she's only 83 years young).

LOL, I still have trouble with that! I never can remember which combo, between the receiver and TV settings, that works for each. My boys are obsessed with watching video games on YouTube, it seems so boring to me!

That's awesome! My mom is 76 and we sort of forced it on her :) She's ended up loving her iPad.
