I got a text from my younger dd last night. She asked "Mom, when we were in school did you always have enough $$ for the book fairs"?LOL!!! Ok, can you be any more obvious? Since she lost her job their little family has been struggling financially. I simply told her that if she needed money for the grandsons' book fair...just tell me. It's such a small sum and that's what Grandma is for. I don't want him to miss out on a school function because of the lack of funds!

We're stopping by this evening to give them the $$. :smileyvery-happy:

Back in the Stone Age when I was in school, we didn't have book fairs but instead could order books through the Weekly Reader. We subscribed to the Weekly Reader at school and it was always so exciting to get it in the mail.LOL

I would also do the same thing but I wouldn't be too generous. It's good for the kids to understand money is tight. When DH had to quit working when the kids were in grade school, we had to cut back on these book fairs. Before, I really brought them anything they wanted as I love books. But when money was tight we gave them a budget & they decided if they wanted to add their allowance/savings to our amount.

U are lucky, my kids always wanted a ton of books. They all love to read.
2 of the 3 have ereaders & the third uses his ipad so I'm really glad I'm not paying to keep them in books now!!!!

I use the Kindle app on my iPad and on my iPhone. I can read it from one. I love it! I love to read but DH isn't a reader - he would rather watch TV instead! LOL

I have a kobo that I love, use it all the time but also use an ipod to listen to books on tape. I have used my mini computer for both reading & listening to books. Before the kobo, I had another ereader that didn't last more than 4 mths & then the kids brought me a tablet but I found that had problems too. So decided to get simple & just have a kobo.
