Will your dh have custody of the kids for Father's Day, or does it depend on the custody arrangement?  Will you take them out to get him a present?

Under our visitation order, DH is to have DSS from 9-6 on Father's day when DH is in Michigan.  We live in Texas, so he isn't always up there at that time.  If we have him on the even numbered year for the first half of the summer, as long as school is out by then, his visitation has already started and we have him.  He's currentl 14, but if we had him, we would do something as a family  obviously.  But on the years he doesn't see DH, he doesn't get him anything, send a card, etc., DH is lucky if he gets a call or text from him telling him Happy Father's Day.

That's too bad, Tracy :( I would hope that he would have a bit more sensitivity to his dad. I doubt he'd be happy if you didn't contact him on his birthday.

We have him every other birthday as its Dec. 30 and we alternate the christmas holiday, so one year we'll have him from the day after christmas through the end of holiday break and the other year we have him from the beginning of christmas break til the day after christmas. We always celebrate his birthday along with christmas and DH makes sure to still call him on his actual birthday, but yes, he would be upset if we didn't. I just have to remember that kids are selfish and can't take everything they say and do (or don't say and don't do) personally.
