Braces?

DS is getting braces this afternoon.  He's excited and nervous.  He's only 8, so I know it seems early.  He had to have one of his molars pulled last year because of the way the permanent tooth was pushing on it (it was slowly killing the baby tooth), so they tried to put a spacer in to keep the gap open for when the permanent tooth comes all the way in.  The spacer kept falling out, so now the gap has closed.  He'll be in braces to open up that gap, then we'll have to do "phase 2" when he's older.  He gets migraines, so I'm a little worried that he might worry himself into a migraine over the whole braces thing (and since he'll probably have a headache from the braces for the first two days anyway).  Does anyone else have experience with younger kids and braces?
