Well, our ps here starts on Sept 2nd. Some start the week after. I would like to start by the 29th to be a little ahead. I haven't gotten books yet. The directors office said I may be able to borrow from the district but it is up to the principal from each school. She said to cal back after school starts but when I asked she said I can call the school before. I am nervous but hooe to have a great year.
No.
I have some curriculum my SIL gave me, and I really want to be more disciplined about things this year. It has been getting better with time, Hannah learns really well, and I figure everything is gravy because it's 2 more years before I need to do school. She knows all her colors, upper & lower case letters and the sounds they make, recognizes some words, some numbers, can count to 13 (20 if you don't count number 14), recites some scripture, probably can sing a dozen songs and knows all the words to some of them. She'd probably be overprepared for a ps kindergarten, and that's with no real formal school. Peter knows one or two letters, maybe a couple colors (red seems to be pronounced "Elmo"), enjoys reading and singing (though he really doesn't know what he's doing, engages in appropriate pretend play (feeds dolls, makes animals walk, drives cars, drinks and eats). All of this with no formal schedule or training. I also kinda figure, so long as they are well ahead of where they are supposed to be, there's no real need to push the formal sitdown stuff.
