I took Brooklyn (10) & Joseph (6) to the dentist yesterday. Brooklyn needed a baby tooth pulled and Joseph had a cavity between his teeth (actually on both sides but the filled one side). They started asking Brooklyn about he gas so I said I thi k she would be fine without it. They did it. She tried to convince me Joseph should have the gas because it is harder to give them when they get uoset. I wouldn' t let her. Other than a few owes (some with the needle) he did great. My old dentist has done work without novacaine before and they were fine. This is a ped dentist that is pretty popular. I was a bit annoyed, they seem quick to gas. Last time I took Nick (7) , they took him back before me and he was already gased. I can understand him a little but they NEVER asked me. Brooklyn said they used it on her as well that time. I was very surprised they didn't ask me. That must have been why they had me wait in the waiting room. Never again!!! I do not want them to use the gas. Like I said, I can see Nicholas. He is very bouncy but the others NO WAY!!!

Yeah, I would be peeved if someone gave my kids medicine w/o asking me. What if they had an allergic reaction or something?

Our kids haven't had any cavities, but they've had stubborn loose baby teeth pulled and they didn't need Novocaine or anything.

I agree, don't let them go back without you and be sure to tell them no gas w/o your permission.

Hugs,

I'm just curious, why don't you want the gas to be used?

DS has only had to have one small cavity filled. The ped. dentist used the gas. I wasn't sure about it, but BIL (who is a dentist, but lived far away at the time so he couldn't take care of it for us) assured me that it was safe for DS. Should I be more concerned about the gas?
