question about your bithing experiences
Thu, 06-02-2011 - 4:20pm

Hi im Natalie and ive been lurking on this board as id love "tonnes of kids" ;) got 2 so far :)

I had my first DD after induction in hospital and my second just recently by c-section. Im just wondering if any of you have had a c-section/s, successful VBAC? Did you encounter difficulties in your decision to have more babies after atraumatic birth or meet unsupportive drs or mws about having more and more babies?

Your comments or experiences would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hello Natalie,

I am mostly a lurker as well but I thought I could give you my background and experiences because they pertain to your question.

Hi Natalie! Welcome to the board.
I've not had a c/s, but many women here have and have gone on to have either successful v-bacs or multiple c/s.
Tramatic birth experiences I've had and it is hard to get past it. But the one thing that helped me was telling myself that I refused to let it define me or limit me. I wanted TOK so much, and while it was difficult to keep going after bad experiences during birth, it helped me heal by having the babies I wanted.
My best advice would be to keep looking until you find healthcare providers that understand what you've been through and are supportive of helping you achieve your dreams. :)

Thank you for your stories ladies.

As it turns out DD2's pregnancy and c-section birth has left me with post traumatic stress disorder. Its affected me deeper than I first realised. Im working on coming to terms with what happenned with support groups, therapy, and am practically writing my own pregnancy care and birth plan for next time. Discussing options with senior midwives and independent midwives. I feel that I need a "redemptive" pregnancy and birth. With as little intervention as possible. I've decided to trust my insincts.

For religious reasons contraception is not an option but im hoping NFP will provide us some

I am sorry to here that you had to deal with that. I am glad things are getting better for you. With my 4th child I didn't talk about her birth for over a year. It was very stressful for me. After I had a few more it did help me to forget the problems of this birth and helped me to get past it. I hope a more positive experience comes for you.
