What do you wash cloth diapers in?

Ok, so I'm thinking about switching to cloth since Peyton will be in them the rest of her life and it's getting a little expensive. Plus if we get another baby we'll have 3 in diapers! In my search for information I came across sweetbabyboutique.com and she was looking for testers and chose me :o) Now I have these cute little diapers for Peyton and the baby and am wondering what everyone uses to care for them. I have heard someone say they used Simple Green because of no buildup and it's pretty non toxic I guess and good for the environment. I just used All Baby on them.
Just wondering what you all use and if you have any cloth diapering tips or techniques that you use?
I have gotten a ton of info on making my own from Steph, thanks girl.
Thanks in advance and wish me luck,
Mom to Ainsley 5, Peyton 3 (angelman.org), foster boys 3 and 1 and maybe baby soon.

Jennifer...good for you for trying cloth. We switched with #7 when he was about 7 months old, and man do I wish I would have started with #1. Anyway, I use Charlie's soap. It's expensive for me because it comes from the States, and we live in Canada, but it's by far the best soap I've found. It doesn't leave residue that makes stinky diapers. I also put a couple drops of tea tree oil in the first wash to disinfect.
Anyway, good luck, I hope you like the cloth.

Sounds like cloth might be a good choice for you :) I think what works best kinda depends on which kind of cloth you are using. pinstripesandpolkadots.com has a really good break down on all the different detergents and what works best with what. Lately, I have been using pocket diapers (Fuzi Bunz) and Ecover laundry soap. I think Fuzi Bunz require a little more soap than the normally reccomended 1/4 C or they start to get pee stinky. I have heard great things about the generic Sam's Club detergent and am thinking about trying that next. I am a little nervous since the whole reason I switched to Ecover was due to my youngest having a reaction to all the chemicals and scents in Tide.
Good Luck!

I know I'm replying to this a bit late :P, but Green Mountain Diapers' "How To" info is where I started with my washing routine and I've adapted it to fit us as time has gone on and to suit our needs best.

HTH and I hope you're enjoying your cloth diapers! I love CDing ;).
