Here are links to some essays I've found today about only children, written by moms. If I find more I'll add those too!

thanks for sharing them! It's great to read them and feel the power of having an only. :) May not have been my choice in the beginning and I still wish for a second, but I know we've made the right choice. Now I'll just wait for Grandchildren, how sad when I'll only be 35 on Aug 2! lol

Thanks for posting these Amber! They were both good reads.

I feel like neither one of them exactly captured MY only child reality, which is that we didn't plan this from the beginning but decided on it because we realized we were thoroughly happy the way we were and didn't want to change. They each captured parts of things I have felt or experienced though, like people not "getting it", the feeling of watching what seems like everyone you know have more than you do, etc.

There were a few lines in each one that I felt like I could have written b/c I feel or have felt the exact same way.

Right now having an only seems a bit harder b/c of people around me getting pregnant with their second or having their second (I feel like I shouldn't drink the city water, it's that bad!). I don't want a second child, I definitely shouldn't have a second child, but somehow I still wonder-- am I *that* weird for wanting only one?

This is where articles, essays and most of all you ladies are so helpful. :-)
