We had a great visit home with my family. My parents have finished the basement in their house (for the most part lol) and it was wonderful for us to stay there. DH got to relax a bit and really enjoyed having his own space to put together his models. Paige had a blast playing with Grandma and even Grandpa when he was home in the evenings. They have new toys for the kids, a small 4 wheeler, and Grandpa taught Paige how to drive it. It's neat because they can adjust the max speed on it, so it can go at a snail's pace if they want it to.

I had a wonderful time bonding with my new SIL and the baby, Alexa! She is so sweet and cuddly, but I was always happy to hand her back when she cried or needed a diaper change ;-) lol. My Brother picked a great girl, I'm happy for him. Their house is looking wonderful, the new kitchen cabinets are in and they have some beautiful counter tops on them. The company messed up on the counter top order so the island isn't covered, but that'll get done soon.

We ended the vacation with more drama and turmoil at the office. I swear when DH leaves our employees loose their minds and go crazy saying wacky things! I don't know what we're going to do about our general manager, we have proof that she lied and was gossiping, two things that are written in the manual that you'll get fired for. The problem is when DH is here she's fine and doesn't act like this, so I don't know what the deal is.

As for the drive home, well it was long but nice. I loved seeing the different scenery as we went, I think Iowa was one of my favorites, it was really pretty ;-). We cut a couple of hours off our trip back by taking different routes. Got stuck on a bridge in Kansas City because of an accident and traffic, other than that nothing too eventful. Oh when we first started out we hit some sort of animal, I think a big badger or something like that. Didn't do any damage to the car thankfully but it sure did sound like it did! Maki did awesome on the trip and he loved being at Grandma's house. Mom tried to keep him there but didn't succeed. ;0)

Back to the grind! Have to get ready for work and running around town today.

Welcome back, JOdi! I hope you had a great trip home and got to enjoy some cooler weather. Did you wave in my direction when you passed through Iowa? ;-) I agree that Iowa is very pretty to drive through. Lots of green, trees, wildflowers (or at least pretty weeds, LOL), and rolling hills.

Thanks for the cool postcard! Travis really liked it. I'll try to send you guys one from Iowa one of these days.

yes I did wave, DH thought I was crazy. I tried talking him into a 2 hour detour but we managed to do that on our own anyway. lol Ok so it was only 30 minutes but that adds up when you're driving 1700 miles! lolol

I'm so happy to post card made it! I love getting those, wish they had a Red Wing's one but none to be had.

ps. I'm really missing the cooler weather and GREEN. Everything here is dry and brown.

It really was a relaxing trip. I love being around my family, it's big and loving. DH's family is rather small because they don't talk to their extended relatives lol. And when they do talk, it's not always nice! lolol
