howdy strangers....

It's been a while since I've checked in, sorry about that! I'm a facebook addict what can I say ;-)

Paige is doing great, started 3rd grade last week! I can't believe my baby is in 3rd grade already!! She has a wonderful teacher this year and the kids in her class are a mixture of old and new so I have confidence it'll be a great year! So far so go, so we're keeping our fingers crossed.

I believe I've posted about us selling our businesses and them not keeping me on to continue doing diabetic shoes. I started working for another company in July and it's going ok so far. I'm on straight commission so that's been tough, language barrier is tough also but I'm working through it. Heck our financial situation is tough but everybody seems to have that going on so I'm not one to complain. I'm hoping to make my sales goal this month, and I need to get off my duff and make some sales!

My hubbie is doing so much better now that the burden of making payroll and paying bills for our businesses is off his shoulders. He's loving college and all it has to offer and I'm happy he's happy. Jealous that he gets to stay home during the day but it's a fair trade since I got to do it for the last 5 years, heck he's a better house keeper than I am anyway!

Ashley, my step daughter, is 6 months along now and due around Dec 27! She feels she'll go early since that's what's happened to the women in her family, I'm praying for 36 weeks and nothing earlier. Her Aunt went at 34 weeks and baby was pretty small, little over 4 lbs. They were just here to see us this weekend and we enjoyed relaxing and visiting with them. Baby shower will be at the end of October so I better get cracking on gifts!

Hope you are all doing well, now to catch up on posts!

Hi Jodi! Glad you were able to post. Sounds like things are going well with your new job, school for your dh, and 3rd grade for Paige. :-) I bet you can't wait for the grandbaby to arrive! I think maybe you said on FB but I can't remember, do they know if they're having a boy or a girl yet?

She's having a boy! I think they are going with Camden but I'm not sure. I guess her husband's older brother and his wife called Camden first or something like that and they don't want to cause a rift...they've been trying for a child for a couple of years now with no luck. :( They are trying to come up with a good C name...I like Camden and Caden, her DH is Caleb I suggest Jr but they didn't go for that! lol

It's funny having a son-in-law that is just 7 years younger than me, heck he's a year older than my sister-in-law! lol

It was tough when Paige started school at 4 for the pre-school program. She loved going to school so that made it easier on me that's for sure! ;-) We often have days where she would just like to stay home and hang out, we're a close family and I love that :).

Maybe once Olivia starts back to school you could volunteer at different places to try out different jobs. I had no idea I wanted to go into Pedorthics until my husband sent me to a shoe fitter course. Then I decided I wouldn't mind dealing with feet and helping people who are diabetic keep there feet became my job. :)

LOL about your hubby being a better house keeper. Mine is too! I'm the one in school full time/home but I actually can't wait til I'm working full time and HE can be the one at home more, and work just part time.

I think December 23rd sounds like a good birthday for the new baby. It's Gabe's LOL :D Actually a December birthday THAT close to Xmas stinks.

I've already informed my step-daughter that we will be celebrating a special half birthday for our Grandchild....big party in June for him so he gets a special day and doesn't feel left out with a December birthday! My DH's birthday is Dec 11, his sister is Dec 7, his Uncle is Dec 24...thankfully Paige was Jan 22 so it's not too close but we sure do feel it when buying gifts!

Well I hate the half birthday thing too (sorry) because no one else is "forced" to move their birthdays.

So far I've just done his party the weekend before and haven't had a problem with everyone showing up. When he's in school if it's a week or two early/late depending on winter break no biggie but I won't move his birthday just because it happens to be near Xmas.

I did decide that he'll likely get some sort of biggish gift for Easter (not something anyone else in my family does) because it will be something completely random.

I also do NOT allow combo Xmas/bday gifts or Xmas paper. No one else gets that so why should he?

Can ya tell it's something that annoys me LOL. DH's b-day is Dec 3 so I know how much some of those thing annoyed him too and we just decided to be really anal about it.

very good point! I agree no birthday gifts in Christmas paper. Maybe I'll just buy birthday gifts in July so it doesn't hurt the check book so much in December....heck I'm going to really have to restrain myself from excessive buying for the baby! lol I've had to tone down things for Paige since our financial situation has changed so much with the sale of our business. Thankfully she has everything she needs, she just wants everything else.

Yup I am done with both birthday and Xmas already but I've always been a year round shopper for Xmas.

Gabe is the only grandchild on my side so my mom spoils him (plus she lives with us) so he gets PLENTY the rest of the year. I only need to stash a few things for him for Xmas at this point.
