I know it's not quite Tuesday where most of you are, but you're probably going to bed soon and won't check in again until the morning? I never know what quite to do at these times so this time I decided to start the Tuesday thread.

I went to the doctor for my checkup this morning. It went well and the doctor was very chatty and friendly but a couple of things he said, completely unrelated to health, kind of irked me. Especially considering he specialises in women's health and has delivered over 400 babies apparently.

We were going over my history and the infertility and then he asked if I gave birth vaginally or had a caesar. Then he responded that it was a brave doctor to 'let' me give birth naturally when the baby is so precious. This bugged me on so many levels. Firstly, isn't every baby precious? And secondly there is absolutely no evidence that a caesar is safer if there is no medical indication for it - and having a 'precious' baby certainly isn't a medical issue!! I told him that I'm very glad that I did give birth vaginally because I still remember feeling Mitchell's arms and legs coming between my legs and that is a precious memory I will treasure forever.

THEN he went on to tell me to make sure that I didn't let Mitchell get away with everything or he will turn into a brat. Then justified this comment by saying, "I have one child too so I understand how tempting it is to pamper them". Seriously, what? What about being a GP gives you any right to give me parenting advice? Especially when you have known me for all of 10 minutes and have never met my son!

Ah, feel better having got that out :) Medically the visit went well and the nurse who did my blood pressure and diabetes test and chaperoned the pap was really lovely. All is good and results from the pap will take a week or two.

Now I need to study some more but.... did I mention this subject is really, really boring???

I'm really sorry. A pap is bad enough without having a doctor like that. lol

Um, wow, those are some interesting comments to get from a doctor, especially the unsolicited parenting "advice". Sounds like he bought into too many stereotypes! Glad the appointment went well despite that.

Haha, love the graphic. :-)

Not much going on around here today. It's rainy and I don't plan to go anywhere. Will probably do some laundry and read my book. We were going to go to a tee-ball game for one of our friends little boys tonight, but that might not happen if it rains all day.

I agree with the others, it's bad enough having to get your Pap without having an annoying Dr to boot! UGH!

Well, today we are at the office working on computers. I have 2 new ones to setup for our office that too the lightening hit before we went on vacation. Paige is helping lol. Actually she's having fun at her own desk pretending she's working in an office. She also enjoyed the boxes the computer came in. :)

Things are finally starting to calm down at the office. DH is on his way with our General Manager, one of the people who caused the problems while we were on vacation, to our Laredo store. That'll give them 6 hours in the car to talk so it'll be good.

Not much else going on. I have to work on some more crochet tonight and getting the back bedroom straightened up, my step daughter is coming in on Thursday night and the new bed is arriving Wed afternoon. I'm also having a Tastefully Simple party on Thursday and I have a Girl Scout event to go to Wed. evening, it's a busy week!

Today's been so nice so far. I took Keenan to Moms' Day Out, then picked DH up at work and we went to Starbucks for coffee and free pastries (yay for free!). Then I took him back to work and went to Jo-Ann (a fabric and craft store) and Fresh Market, a small, higher-end grocery store. I don't buy all our food there, but I do prefer their fruits and veggies b/c even though the price is higher, the quality is almost always better too, so it's worth it to me. Now I'm at home catching up online before either reading or working on a tank top that I'm trying to mend/upgrade. (Our cat chewed through one of the straps, so I'm removing the straps, putting on ribbon instead, and adding some lace to the neckline.)

Thanks Lynsie :) The other thing is that the pap brought back unpleasant memories of all the fertility treatment too which I wasn't anticipating. I'm so glad the nurse was so lovely though.
