...while the boards were down!
I was just going to start a new thread on an update for us but figured I'd just reply to yours. :)
Paige has another UTI (urinary tract infection) so we are taking her to see a pediatric nephrologist, kidney specialist, up in San Antonio. They want to make sure there is nothing wrong with her kidneys or bladder. I suspect it may be some reflux from the valve that closes off the bladder after the urine is processed from the kidney. It may not be closing properly and allowing urine to go back up where it should go. Who knows, other than I'm sure we'll be paying way too much out of pocket for all the tests but if we find out why she's been getting such frequent UTI's, I believe she's had 6 this year, it'll be worth it. Tomorrow morning she goes in for a kidney ultrasound. Our appointment in San Antonio is on the 19th and I'm sure there will be more tests after that. I'll keep you updated. I'm not gong to post about it on facebook, little too much info for there ;-)
I got word today that a computer job should be coming open on the Air Force base within the next 2 weeks. The supervisor wants me to call him so I can adjust my resume some with the wording to make sure I can get into the selection pool for resume's, hopefully get an interview and maybe even the job! It would be nice to not stress out about insurance anymore, we pay $1000 a month just to have our Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance and the businesses are not making any money now so we are not getting any payments from the new owners...but I did manage to make a pretty good sales check this last month.
Ken has finals this week so he's busy studying. I'm trying to work and staying up with Girl Scouts. :) Going to visit my sister-in-law in San Antonio for a little staycation :) Sunday we're gong horse back riding! :) I'll take pictures. :)
Well let's see...what have we been up to....
My idiot neighbors dog bit Travis on the leg last week.
I've been trying to not shoot myself duing Microbiology.
We are doing work, school and activities as usual.
Victroria had an orthodontist appointment yesterday and she has to go back in two years when all her big teeth are in - so they can make an appointment to remove them (??) so she can have braces.
I'm trying to get back to being more active on here, as I know several people who are pregnant, which leads to the inevitable, "So when are *you* going to try for another one?" discussion. I need positivity and people who don't look at me like I'm nuts when I say we're perfectly happy being a family of three! I know I also need help working on my rather smug attitude whenever one of the said expecting friends complains about morning sickness, or lack of sleep and free time once the baby gets here. I instantly think, "Nope, no sympathy, you knew what you were getting into!" which of course is not a very healthy or polite attitude to have! (No worries-- I don't *say* any of that, just think it!)
Sunday afternoon DH, Keenan, and I went to Orlando (about three hours for here) for an overnight, and it was lovely! K's never been and this was our intro to the Disney insanity for him. We went shopping at Downtown Disney-- he LOVED the Lego store!-- and had dinner at a Japanese teppanyaki grill Sun. night. Then Monday we had a late breakfast with three Disney characters at one of the resorts (Donald, Goofy, and Minnie) and more shopping and walking around Downtown Disney before heading back home. K did incredibly well at the stores. We let him pick one thing out at the Lego store, and we were going to let him pick one thing out from one of the Disney-themed stores, but he didn't ask! He'd look at something, study it, and then say, "Maybe I can get this someday" and put it back on the shelf. Made me wonder if he was actually my kid! lol
I'm wrapping up a writing project (I'm a freelance writer and occasional translator) while trying to submit proposals and negotiate with potential clients for a new project. I've really enjoyed my current project and client and will, for the first time really, be sad when a project is over. Usually by the time I get done I'm ready to move on and meet someone new and do something different, but I haven't quite reached that point yet.
Happy belated birthday!
