Oh, the questions...

Do the questions and comments about having "just one" ever stop? I don't go around asking people about their family size, so it's just so hard for me to understand why others do.

There will always be nosy or tacky people. Once your child is in school, the questions seem to back off. In my case, being an only, people didn't bug me much figuring they'd insult me by asking, I guess! They did ask dh, who is 3rd of 8, and he more or less told them they could have as many as they wanted.

My family and close friends never asked me as they knew how difficult it was to have one. Hardly anyone has ever asked other than in a very general way - do you have any more children? Except one lady who usually asks DH as she sees him more and if she ever asks again I'll tell her very bluntly that the others all died in the womb. She doesn't speak English very well and so speaks very loudly so everyone round about hears the question.

I think as they grow older the questions do change and it's no longer about number of children.

LOL! Yeah, I think the grandparents forget exactly what a normal 4 year old acts like. DD is very well behaved, but she definitely does have her moments. What 4YO doesn't?

They questions will stop. My DD is 8 (almost 9) and people will often ask if I have any other children, but they don't ask me if we plan to have more. I think once the kids get to a certain age, people start to assume that you have chosen not to have more or can't have more.
