Today is the first day of school! Travis is a 5th grader! Today I'm vividly remembering the day I took him to school for his first day of Kindergarten. *sniff*
Last night we went to school to drop off his supplies, get his class list and schedule, etc. There are a few of his friends that I really wish were in his class this year but aren't, and there are one or two that are in his class that I could definitely do without! They mixed up the classes pretty good this year after keeping them pretty much the same for the last 3 years or so.
Today is a short day and I'm hoping he has a great day! I'm going to make some brownies for a special after-school treat. :-) Tonight he has an hour-long skate to get ready for the upcoming tryouts for the regular hockey season.
Here's a pic from this morning (for those you not on Facebook).
WTG on the new 5th grader......and hugs to you Amy. Hope both your days go well! Same here on the classes and who is in them with Brionna, wish some were in her class and others not in her class. Her best friend is in her class this year though.
Cute picture too!
I love the way you always take a photo of the first day of school.
I'm at home today as my computer at work has broken down so I'm using the one at home!
I got my car serviced in the morning and I was very pleased. The car is driving wonderfully now and the service was wonderful. I love it when they explain what they've done in a non-condescending way :) Then I was going to take my tv in to be looked at because the picture has been green for a couple of weeks. I thought I'd play with it first just to check though and discovered that one of the cords was loose and once I fixed that it was fine. So now I can watch tv in full colour and I didn't have to pull it apart and take it for a trip :)
Then last night we had a facilities presentation for all the prospective parents of the new school. As school council I needed to help set up so Mitchell went to a friend's house after school. That went really well, he had a ball and they were happy to have him. The friend's Mum commented about what a good eater he is and that he ate all his vegetables and finished everything on his plate. I always find this amusing as when he was 8 months old he wasn't a fan of the food and just wanted to breastfeed. I wasn't worried because I knew that breastmilk was everything he needed and that he'd eat when he was ready but the child health nurse had a panic attack and raved on about how if babies don't eat at 8 months they will never eat.... Seriously... And ever since he's turned 2 everybody always comments about what a good eater he is. Thanks goodness I had better people to listen to than that dumb nurse at the time!!
The presentation also went really well and kids from Prep and Grade 6 modelled the new school uniforms and they were so cute! I think everyone is excited about the new school - it is going to be just fabulous!

I hope Travis has a great first day :)
