I'm planning a birthday party and am already dreading the crying song (aka Happy Birthday.) I am the only perosn I know who still cries every time, lol. Maybe this year will be different.

We're going on a couple little road trips to visit festivals and I'm so looking forward to cooler temps.

I've entered a few swaps and challenges on a scrapbook sight so I hope to get some stuff done. I'm eagerly awaitng my LSS to get some of the

Beautiful flowers!

It's got warm again here - 72F is pretty hot for us!

Victoria has been back at school for three weeks - they had the school photos taken today.

I'm cautiously optimistic that fall is finally here! It was actually chilly outside this morning; Travis had to wear a sweatshirt to school. I love it!! It has been such a hot and humid summer and I am sooo ready for fall. I have been craving everything about it! The temps have been a bit lower this week but it was still muggy. I am so done with muggy! Hopefully it's gone for good at this point. :-)

It's a couple weeks into the school year and Travis seems to be adjusting well to middle school. We had some bus issues the first few days, but thankfully that has all settled down. It took a few days for him to get the hang of his locker, but he's got it now. We've established that I am useless when it comes to helping with math homework, so that responsibility falls firmly on dh's shoulders! LOL He has had math homework every single night, but no other homework so far. We had Open House last night and got to meet all the teachers and hear a bit about their plans for the year. Dh and I were very impressed with all the teachers! They all seem really enthusiastic and like they genuinely want to help the kids learn and do their best, as well as to love learning and be interested and excited about it. It was gently stressed over and over again that the kids have responsibilities and while the teachers are there to help them, they won't hound them or hold their hands. Travis needs to really improve in this area (he's a good student, but not organized and tends to be somewhat scattered) so I'm hoping this year will bring some personal growth in this aspect of things.

He is trying out for the AA travel hockey team again this year. I'm pretty doubtful that he will make it, and I have mixed feelings about that. I would love for him to have a chance to play at that level, but dh and I both have concerns about the amount and distance of traveling and the time commitment, etc. I think it might be a bit too much for us to juggle along with school, homework, band, and drum practice, plus all the other day to day things. So we will wait and see. He has one more tryout to go; it will be disappointing if he isn't picked, but I think it might be better in the end. Hopefully there will be a select team (still travel hockey but slightly less intense). We did that last year and had a lot of fun with it.

It's a long weekend here (Labor Day) so no school or work on Monday. Yay! We'll be getting together with some family on Sunday. I get to see my 9 month old nephew. They live 3 hours away so I don't get to see them very often. He is getting to be at a really fun age so Travis and I are looking forward to playing with him. :-)

It looks like a nice weekend here. The weather is warm but beautiful. DS has a school birthday party to go to, and we're throwing a belated b-day party for dh and his dad at our house this weekend. No guitar or soccer - yippee! DS sooooo needs a break. We're contemplating an outing at the zoo/aquarium or to a local wine festival.

School pictures for ds today. He looked so handsome -

Gorgeous flowers, Amy! I love mums in the fall. Unfortunately our greenhouse doesn't have any ready yet and try as I might, I have had NO luck getting them to come back year after year in my gardens. So I just buy a couple and set them on the porch. :O)

It has finally cooled off here, too! 64 degrees today with a strong NW breeze - I love it. :O) It's supposed to be pretty cool here this weekend until Mon. when they're calling for wind, rain and a high of 86 ... ! Yikes! I hope that isn't true but we'll see. I have to work on Mon. from 8-12 since it's my holiday this year. No big deal as we never make plans for this weekend. I need to get started cleaning out my garden and also can some more spaghetti sauce so hopefully I can get those things done along with the usual household chores.

We took our annual mini vacation up to the North Shore and Duluth last weekend (Sat. through Tues.) and it was positively beautiful! We fall more and more in love with that area every time we go. I hope someday we can buy a vacation home up there. :O)

Erin starts preschool on Tues., the 7th. It's not a huge deal since she's been in the "preschool room" since she turned 3. She's excited, though, because she gets to take her new backpack and school supplies finally. I'll take some pictures and make a big deal out of it since if she wasn't attending preschool at her daycare center, then she'd be going to the school for preschool several mornings a week.

My online classes started on the 23rd and so far they're going well. I'm taking Presentation Graphics (basically advanced PowerPoint) and Electronic Spreadsheets and Graphics (basically advanced Excel). The Presentation Graphics class I should be able to finish up by the end of Oct. and the other one I'll be working on until the end of the semester which is the middle of Dec. They're kind of fun!

Dh has been busy as ever at work which is good but gets a little frustrating at home... it will be this way until the end of October.
