I know it's the middle of summer for most of you and lots of people have gone away but who's still around and what are you up to?

Well Mitchell's back at school this week for term 3 so I'm catching up on all the study I didn't do while he was on holidays. Apart from a break to go and see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince I will be studying all day every day this week while he's at school.

Today is Mitchell's show and tell day so he's taken his orange belt and grading book and certificate to share with the class. He's also looking forward to taekwondo tonight as the new white belts are starting including one of his friends from his class at school.

I've been looking into the best/quickest way to do the education degree I need to become a teacher while still doing it the way I want (I want to be able to teach high school maths) and have got to a stale mate with what I can figure out from the uni web site so I'm very impatiently waiting for a couple of people at the uni to reply to my emails. Although I think it's actually holidays so it might be a week or 2 and I need to learn to be patient :) Applications only open on August 1 and close at the end of September, but I need to know soon if it is worth doing 2 open uni maths subjects as I will need to enrol in them in a couple of weeks or it will be too late.

Wow! It sounds so different having a kid with a licence, it must be strange after being so hands on for so long. I hope that you do all get to relax over the summer. My BIL and SIL live in Michigan (Michael's brother) and we went there 4 years ago for their wedding. They live in Canton which we thought was really lovely and pretty, but too cold for me even in the middle of summer :)

Good luck with fattening M@ up!

Today is my "day off". While I'm studying I am allowing myself one day per week to go out or whatever and seeing as all my friends seem to have sick kids at the moment and are stuck at home, I decided to go and see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince at the first session this morning. It met all my expectations and was fantastic and I cried (twice), laughed a lot and jumped out of my skin once :)

Mitchell is devastated that he can't go see it (though we will watch it on DVD that way we can fast forward the worst bits) so I picked him up a HBP sticker book and colouring book and hopefully that will keep him happy.

Anyway must head off and pick him up from school now :)

Is M@ a fan of avocados? Those are a great healthy way to get some fat. I love to mash one up, mix with a few tablespoons of good salsa, add a squeeze of lime juice, and voila-- easy guacamole. K loves it so much he'll lick it off the chip, *then* eat the naked chip. :-)
